Balut has long been known as a delicious, nutritious and healthy dish. However, experts advise against eating too many baluts and not everyone can eat baluts.
Effects of balut eggs
VietNamNet newspaper quoted the National Nutrition Commission of the Philippines as saying that balut is a cheap and accessible source of protein in Southeast Asia. One egg contains 188 calories, 14 grams of protein, 14.2 grams of fat, 116 milligrams of calcium and 2.1 milligrams of iron.
Additionally, they are packed with calcium, iron and phosphorus, vitamin C and beta-carotene, two powerful antioxidants that support the immune system by removing free radicals from the blood. Eggs also contain niacin, riboflavin and thiamine, which aid in energy metabolism.
Both men and women can eat balut, but it is believed that for women, this food brings more health benefits.
For men, the high protein content in balut eggs creates a large amount of heat throughout the body, even in the Philippines, people call it Viagra. However, there is no reliable scientific research to prove it.
Balut is delicious and nutritious but not everyone can eat it.
People who should not eat balut
Although balut is good for health, not everyone can eat this dish.
The article in Health & Life Newspaper with the advice of Dr. Phan Bich Nga - National Institute of Nutrition said that people with high blood pressure, diabetes, hepatitis, fatty liver, cardiovascular disease, gout... should also abstain or not eat a lot of balut eggs, because it can clog arteries, increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke. Specifically:
- People with kidney disease: People with kidney disease often have major problems in metabolism, the amount of urine is reduced, making it impossible for the kidneys to filter all toxins out. Meanwhile, eating balut will increase the amount of urea in the body, causing kidney damage, even urinary tract poisoning.
- Patients with hepatitis, fatty liver, cardiovascular disease: This group of people should abstain or avoid eating too much because it will increase the burden on the liver, increase the risk of atherosclerosis causing arterial blockage, increase the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke.
- People with gout: This dish contains a lot of protein, the more you eat, the more protein will increase in the blood, making the condition more dangerous.
- People with high blood pressure: Patients with high blood pressure should absolutely stay away from balut because when eating this food, the body will absorb a large amount of protein and cholesterol - two substances that cause high blood pressure.
Above are the health benefits of balut and people who should not eat balut. If you are in the above group, stay away from balut.
