On the afternoon of October 20, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh chaired a press conference on the expected agenda of the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly. Responding to the question of personnel matters that will be considered by the National Assembly at the 8th session, Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee of the National Assembly Standing Committee Nguyen Thanh Hai said that at the National Assembly's preparatory meeting tomorrow morning (October 21), the National Assembly will consider the contents expected to be submitted to the session and consider approving the session agenda. This includes the content on personnel matters, which will be considered and approved by the National Assembly in the official agenda of the session. "According to the expected agenda of the session submitted to the National Assembly for approval, on the first day of the meeting, the National Assembly will conduct the personnel process for the position of President in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and laws," Ms. Hai said. Ms. Hai also informed that we follow the principle of "Party nomination - people election". At the recent 10th Conference of the Party Central Committee, we voted to introduce qualified personnel and will submit them to the National Assembly for election to the position of President for the 2021-2026 term according to regulations. The Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee stated that this is the concretization of the Party's policies at the National Assembly. Regarding the personnel under her authority, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hai emphasized that she will follow the provisions of the law, and the program has arranged time to implement it with personnel under the authority of the National Assembly.

The 8th session will work for 29.5 days.

According to Deputy Head of the National Assembly Office Vu Minh Tuan, the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly will hold a preparatory meeting and solemnly open on October 21, and is expected to close on the morning of November 30, in the form of a centralized meeting.

The session will be held in two phases, including phase 1 from October 21 to November 13; phase 2: from November 20 to the morning of November 30, in which the National Assembly will work 4 Saturdays. The total working time of the session is expected to be 29.5 days.

In particular, according to Mr. Tuan, General Secretary and President To Lam will give an important speech at the opening session of the meeting.

At this session, the National Assembly will spend most of its time on law-making, supreme supervision, consideration and decision on socio-economic issues and a number of other important issues.

The National Assembly will consider and pass 15 bills and 3 draft resolutions on legal norms. At the same time, the National Assembly will consider and give opinions on 13 draft laws.

Along with that, the National Assembly will consider and decide on socio-economic issues, the State budget, supervision and other important issues.

Including assessing the implementation results of the socio-economic development plan and state budget in 2024 and reviewing and deciding on the socio-economic development plan, state budget estimates, and central budget allocation plan in 2025.

Review reports on judicial work, anti-corruption, crime prevention and law violations, results of monitoring the settlement of voters' petitions, citizen reception, handling of petitions and complaints and denunciations of citizens.

At the same time, review personnel work under authority, consider and decide on the establishment of Hue City directly under the Central Government, consider and decide on the investment policy for the high-speed railway project on the North-South axis and many other important contents.
