Binh Xuyen district has 13 communes and towns, including 5 low-lying communes and 2 mountainous communes, which are always at high risk of flooding every year during the rainy and stormy season (from July to September), especially Huong Canh town, which is a key dengue fever area monitored by the province, and Thanh Lang town, a key malaria risk area. This is a locality with strong industrial development, high risk of environmental pollution, and many epidemics, especially acute diarrhea, food poisoning, dermatitis, etc.
To effectively implement the disease prevention and control program in the summer from the grassroots level, from the beginning of the year, the center has completed the Steering Committee for Disease Prevention and Control, developed plans, and promptly deployed medical programs on infectious disease prevention and control, food hygiene and safety to cadres, employees and people in the district, especially workers in industrial parks - where many people from other provinces gather.
At the same time, in some localities at risk of disease outbreaks such as Phu Xuan, Trung My, Huong Canh, Thanh Lang..., officers and employees are regularly sent to the facilities to coordinate with commune and town health workers to investigate and closely monitor vectors, promptly detect and have solutions to prevent and control the disease from breaking out and spreading in the community; the center takes samples of hospitalized patients suspected of dengue fever and sends them for testing.
At the same time, the distribution of insecticide-treated mosquito nets, chemical spraying, propaganda, and guidance for people to implement environmental sanitation measures, water sanitation, and mosquito larvae eradication, preventing the spread of disease. Thanks to that, since the beginning of the year, there have only been 13 cases of rash fever suspected of measles in the area and they have been treated promptly, without any infectious or dangerous epidemics.
Implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Health on strengthening disease prevention and control during the 2025 storm season, the center provided each health station with 30 kg of Cloramin B to disinfect domestic water sources. Training on dengue fever prevention and control for 13 station heads and key officials of communes and towns, 100% of village health workers on disease prevention and control and search and rescue at the grassroots level...
In addition, the center also provided 27 banners, hundreds of slogans, and posters to hang in places where many people pass by; provided each commune with 1 cassette tape, 3,000 leaflets, health newsletters, handbooks on clean water, environmental sanitation, and the use of iodized salt. Coordinated with the district radio station and commune radio stations in the area to broadcast daily news and articles on epidemic prevention and control and common diseases during the rainy and stormy season.
To effectively carry out epidemic prevention work in the summer, especially during the peak of floods in August and September, the center is stepping up propaganda and raising public awareness in the prevention and control of infectious diseases and some common summer diseases on the radio stations of the district and communes and towns; assigning 1 officer to each commune to be on duty, directing commune health workers and staff to screen and forecast epidemics, especially during prolonged storms.
Instruct communes to periodically report on the epidemic situation, assign staff to be on duty when storms and floods occur, be ready to prevent the epidemic in a timely manner, not allowing it to spread and cause human losses, and at the same time instruct people to clean water sources and clear sewers to prevent dangerous epidemics.
Actively advise the district on the prevention of accidents, injuries and drowning during the rainy season, early detection and effective treatment of epidemics, and prevention of spread in the community.
