Harbin Ice and Snow World, the world’s largest ice and snow theme park, has created a “fever” by welcoming more than 1 million visitors and tourists in just 20 days since its opening. This is an impressive record for the “winter capital” that has conquered tourists for the past 26 years.
Located in Heilongjiang Province, Northeast China, Harbin has become one of the country's top destinations, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists in winter.
This year, the 2024 edition of the Ice and Snow World is the largest in history, with an area of 1 million square meters, a sharp increase from the previous year's 800,000 square meters. More than 300,000 cubic meters of ice and snow are used to create magnificent works of art and structures.
As of 10 p.m. on January 9, the park has welcomed more than 1.03 million visitors since it opened on December 21, 2024. This year's design is inspired by the 2025 Asian Winter Games scheduled to take place in Harbin in February 2025 and the traditional Spring Festival in late January 2025. All promise to create unforgettable experiences for visitors.
In addition to outstanding works such as ice palaces, roller coasters and art sculptures, visitors are also passionate about participating in ice and snow sports and many unique entertainment activities. In particular, local cuisine with hot pot, combining more than 30 types of ingredients, has become an attractive highlight, bringing a warm culinary experience in the cold winter.
According to the Harbin Department of Culture and Tourism, from November 1, 2024 to January 7, 2025, the city recorded an 18.6% increase in tourist arrivals over the same period last year, of which the number of international visitors increased by more than 41% over the same period.
