Vietnam identifies relations with China as a top priority in its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations.

On the afternoon of January 9, at the National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Vietnam Ha Vi.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man congratulated Mr. Ha Vi on his appointment as Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam; through the Ambassador, he sent his warm regards and best wishes to Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Zhao Leji and senior Chinese leaders.

On this occasion, the National Assembly Chairman sent his deepest condolences to the Party, State and people of China for the heavy losses caused by the recent earthquake in the Tibet Autonomous Region.

The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the traditional, friendly neighborly relationship and comprehensive cooperation with China, considering this a top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations.

2025 is an important year in the relationship between the two countries, marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (January 18, 1950 - January 18, 2025).

Currently, all levels and sectors of both sides are actively preparing to organize meaningful activities to celebrate these important events.

Ambassador Ha Vi thanked National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man for taking the time to meet him; at the same time, he conveyed the warm regards and best wishes of Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Zhao Leji to National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; and thanked National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man for sending a message of condolences and sympathy to China about the major earthquake that occurred in the Tibet Autonomous Region.

Ambassador Ha Vi expressed his appreciation for the important contributions of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man in promoting China-Vietnam relations as well as exchanges and cooperation between the two countries' legislative bodies; affirmed that in his position as Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam, he will do his utmost to develop the relationship between the two countries to a new height.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his delight at the positive development in Vietnam-China relations with many outstanding results.

In particular, recently, after the State visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping (December 2023) and the State visit to China by General Secretary and President To Lam (August 2024), the relationship between the two countries has developed strongly, deeply, comprehensively and substantially.

The relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Communist Party of China has recently achieved important achievements. Political and diplomatic relations have been strengthened; economic, trade, investment, cultural, scientific-technological relations and people-to-people exchanges have received special attention.

In 2024, bilateral trade turnover in 11 months reached 185.4 billion USD (up 18.9%), with the potential to reach over 200 billion USD in 2025.

In the overall relationship between the two Parties and two countries, the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Chinese National People's Congress always support each other at regional and international parliamentary forums, especially the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA)...

Ambassador Ha Vi hopes that in the coming time, the legislative bodies of the two countries will continue to play an important role in strengthening the social foundation and supervising the implementation of important cooperation agreements signed by the two sides.

With the support of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, Ambassador Ha Vi believes that cooperation between the National People's Congress of China and the National Assembly of Vietnam will further develop.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man suggested that both sides effectively organize activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries; respectfully invited Chairman of the National People's Congress of China Zhao Leji to pay an official visit to Vietnam and co-chair the First Session of the Cooperation Committee between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the National People's Congress of China.

The National Assembly Chairman believes that during his term in Vietnam, Mr. Ha Vi will continue to further strengthen political and diplomatic relations between the two countries and cooperation in the fields of investment, economy, trade, tourism, especially strengthening cooperation in science and technology, digital technology, education and training, healthcare, people-to-people exchange, cultural cooperation, tourism, etc., creating momentum for the development of Vietnam-China relations in the coming time.

The National Assembly Chairman hopes that Ambassador Ha Vi will pay attention to deepening and more substantively enhancing the relationship between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the National People's Congress of China, and promoting exchanges between the Friendship Parliamentarians' Group, the Women Parliamentarians' Group, and the Young Parliamentarians' Group of the two countries.

Believing that the potential, advantages and space of the two countries are still very large, the National Assembly Chairman believes that the Vietnam-China relationship in the coming time will become increasingly deeper, more comprehensive and more substantial./.
