Speaking at the event, Xi Jinping stressed that Beijing is committed to reform and opening up, and called on global businesses not to be swayed by political pressures when making business decisions.
Xi Jinping condemned countries that have “weaponized” economic and trade issues by erecting tariff barriers and forcing businesses to choose sides. He called on multinational companies to act rationally, reject protectionism and unilateralism, and promote a stable global economic order.

Regarding relations with the US, the Chinese President stressed that the interests between the two countries are mutual and economic conflicts need to be resolved through equal dialogue.
He also pledged to continue creating a favorable environment for foreign investment, while expanding market access in areas such as cloud computing, biotechnology and healthcare . Beijing will ensure fair competition and remove administrative barriers so foreign businesses can operate effectively.
The meeting was attended by more than 40 global business leaders, including the CEOs of FedEx, Mercedes-Benz, Sanofi, HSBC, Hitachi, SK Hynix and Aramco. In addition, many high-ranking Chinese officials such as Mr. Cai Qi, Mr. He Lifeng, Mr. Wang Yi were also present.
The meeting came ahead of the China Development Forum and the Boao Forum, where a host of major CEOs, including Apple's Tim Cook, pledged their commitment to long-term investment in China.
Mr. Cook emphasized that Apple will continue to expand its supply chain, research and development in this market, and play an important bridging role in US-China economic relations.
