China's State Administration for International Development Cooperation announced on October 8 that Beijing will provide emergency medical supplies to Lebanon, as the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah exacerbates the humanitarian crisis.

The statement also pointed out that explosions and airstrikes in Lebanon have caused great casualties among the people there.
One year after the Gaza conflict broke out (October 7, 2023), fighting between Israel and Hamas has spread to many other Middle Eastern countries, causing the situation to escalate seriously.
On October 8, the Israeli military announced that it had killed Suhail Hussein Husseini, the logistics commander of Hezbollah headquarters in Beirut, Lebanon. However, Hezbollah has not made any comments.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Mr. Husseini played a "key role in the transfer of weapons between Iran and Hezbollah, as well as being responsible for distributing advanced weapons" to the armed group's units.
In addition, Iran's launch of 200 ballistic missiles at targets in Israel or the Hezbollah force's attack on the northern city of Haifa on October 7 have forced Israel to consider its response moves.
Also on October 7, the Israeli army continued its offensive on two fronts, shelling heavily in southern Lebanon and launching a retaliatory attack against Hamas in the southern Gaza Strip. In response, Hezbollah forces in Lebanon launched about 190 artillery shells into Israeli territory.
The escalation of fighting has further exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Lebanon. Between September 23 and October 3 alone, the death toll increased by more than 200%, to 1,699 people.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) said that more than 77 health workers working in Lebanon have been killed since the conflict broke out in October 2023. According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, at least 96 health centers and clinics, along with three hospitals in Lebanon, have been forced to close.
Last week, China organized two evacuations for its citizens living and working in Lebanon.
In late September, Beijing also called on its citizens to avoid traveling to Lebanon, and those in conflict areas to evacuate or move to safer places as soon as possible.
The Chinese Embassy in Lebanon said the current security situation in the Middle Eastern country is extremely “severe” and advised citizens of the Northeast Asian country to closely monitor local developments.
