Previously, at around 5:30 p.m. on October 21, fishermen discovered a bomb about 200 meters downstream from pillar number 9 of Long Bien bridge and reported it to the authorities.

Immediately after receiving the news, the Long Bien District Military Command took measures to move the bomb closer to shore, and at the same time mobilized militia forces from Ngoc Lam and Bo De wards to guard and ensure safety at the scene.

Through inspection, authorities determined that the bomb, coded M-118, weighed about 1,362kg, was 210cm long and 56cm in diameter.

The District Military Command reported the incident to superiors, deployed safety measures and organized evacuation according to plan.

Previously, on October 10, the Long Bien District Military Command also coordinated with the Engineering Department, Engineering Battalion 544 and the Engineering Corps to handle a bomb of the same type discovered near the location of the above bomb.
