Helicopters practice raising flags in the sky over Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai
10 helicopters flying the national flag and the Party flag performed a rehearsal in the sky of Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, and Binh Duong to prepare for the April 30th celebration.

At around 6am, 10 helicopters were ready on the runway of Bien Hoa airport ( Dong Nai ). This was the first time the helicopter regiments practiced raising the flag in preparation for the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification on April 30. The flight altitude during the training session on the morning of April 9 was 300 m, and on the official flight day of April 30 it will be 350 m when flying over the Independence Palace area. One of the most difficult operations when flying a helicopter to raise the flag is to time the flag release. This time is determined when the aircraft reaches an altitude of 15 m, the counterweight is 3 m above the ground. A formation of four Mi-171 helicopters hoisted the flag during the exercise. A mechanic on the helicopter is in charge of monitoring the national flag. The flag has an area of 19 square meters with a counterweight weighing 120 kg. The flight formation is organized into three squadrons, 3-4-3 formation. The distance between helicopters in each squadron is 30 m to ensure safety and synchronization.
Lieutenant Colonel pilot Doan Hong Hai, Deputy Commander of Air Regiment 917, Division 370, piloted the Mi-171 helicopter. "This morning, the weather here was slightly foggy, however, the training of the helicopter squadrons went smoothly, ensuring the set plan," said Lieutenant Colonel Hai. Helicopter number 03 in the sky of Bien Hoa city (Dong Nai). According to the parade plan on the occasion of April 30, the Air Defense - Air Force has mobilized dozens of aircraft such as SU30-MK2, Mi helicopters of various types, YAK-130 for training. This is the first time a large number of fighter planes have performed in the sky of Ho Chi Minh City.
Forces of the Air Defense - Air Force will continuously practice to best prepare for the rehearsal scheduled to take place in mid-April before participating in the official performance at the 50th Anniversary of National Reunification Day on the morning of April 30 in Ho Chi Minh City.
