While the match was in progress, referee K. blew the whistle to penalize a player from the Quang Ngai Business team. Some players reacted to referee K. and Mr. Q., the director of TH Company, rushed in and hit Mr. K., causing him to fall to the ground.
On the evening of January 13, Ho Chi Minh City Police said that District 11 Police are consolidating the case file and handling the case of Mr. LTK (born in 1992, residing in Long An province, a referee of the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation) being beaten by NHQ (born in 1982, residing in Hoc Mon district, Director of TH Company in District 11).
Earlier, on the morning of January 10, District 11 Police discovered a video clip circulating on social media about a beating that occurred at the Phu Tho Sports Stadium (Ward 15, District 11). After verification, the police identified the victim as referee K. of the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation, so they invited him in for questioning.
Mr. K. stated that on January 3, he was assigned to officiate the match between the two clubs Doanh Nhan Quang Ngai and Celadon An Phu, part of the Doanh Nhan Online football tournament, and the match took place at field number 3. While the match was in progress, Mr. K. blew the whistle to penalize a player from the Doanh Nhan Quang Ngai team, but some players from the above team reacted. Mr. Q., the Director of TH Company, rushed in and hit Mr. K., causing him to fall to the ground.
During the investigation, the police invited Mr. Q. to come in for questioning and he admitted to beating Mr. K. District 11 police took Mr. K. for injury assessment and are consolidating the case file and handling it according to regulations.
