According to long-time durian growers, although prices are better than last year, this year's hot and dry weather has greatly affected output.
It is estimated that durian output in Lang Lon commune, Chau Duc district (Ba Ria-Vung Tau province) decreased by 20-30% compared to the same period last year, especially in some gardens, the yield decreased by 40-50% due to severe heat shock.
Although affected by hot and dry weather for many months, productivity and output decreased, many durian gardens in Lang Lon commune still have fruit, and durian prices are higher than in 2023.
Through a survey of durian growers, farmers feel very excited about this year's prices. It is expected that this year's durian crop in Lang Lon commune, Chau Duc district, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province will sell about 200 tons of various types of durian to the market.
