Along the vast pineapple hillsides in Tan Thang Commune (Quynh Luu), farmers are busy harvesting pineapples to supply traders. On the roads leading to the pineapple fields, cars line up waiting to "buy goods". A new feature this year is that organically grown pineapple areas are "hitting" big, with prices four times higher than normal pineapples.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, in Hamlet 1, Tan Thang Commune, with his wife and children, is "packing" organic pineapples into cardboard boxes for transport. He excitedly said: The family has over 5 hectares of organic pineapples planted since 2018. Previously, the price was about 10,000 VND/kg, but this crop has skyrocketed to 20,000 VND/kg. Each hectare of organic pineapple yields 20 tons, with a revenue of over 400 million VND/ha/crop.

The output for this type of pineapple is very easy to consume, there are some supermarkets in the southern provinces that come to the place to order. However, to grow pineapple organically, strict requirements must be met such as: No use of herbicides, no use of pesticides, no growth stimulants; mainly use decomposed manure to fertilize the pineapple. Although the yield of organic pineapple is low, the economic value is very high.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh - Chairman of Tan Thang Commune People's Committee said: Tan Thang is the locality with the largest pineapple area in the province, with 1,200 hectares, of which over 500 hectares are being harvested, the total output of the commune is estimated at nearly 6,000 tons, bringing a significant source of income to the people. Pineapples are mainly Queen and Cayen varieties with good quality, high yield, and have been favored by the market for many years.

This year, pineapples are basically in season and have good prices, with an average yield of over 40 tons/ha, sold at 7,500 VND/kg, earning nearly 300 million VND/ha/crop. Of which, the whole commune has over 30 hectares of people building organic pineapple growing models, all earning over 400 million VND/ha/crop. In the long term, the commune is encouraging households to expand the area of organic pineapple growing, "clean pineapple" to increase economic value per unit area.

According to Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, the output for pineapples is very favorable. From 2022 to now, Dong Giao Pineapple Factory has purchased about 4,500 tons of pineapples from people in the commune (reaching over 80% of output). Through the contract between the factory and households, the factory purchases pineapples from people in the garden at the market price of 6,000-7,500 VND/kg depending on the weight of the fruit with unlimited quantity, the factory directly purchases and transports.

The factory signed Pineapple consumption for people is really important, to develop a stable pineapple material area, most importantly pineapple growers no longer worry about output.

The reason for the high price of pineapples in Tan Thang commune, Quynh Luu district is because of the hot summer, the demand for pineapples to cool down has increased sharply, not to mention that markets in the South have also flocked to Tan Thang pineapple area to buy.

Pineapple harvest is good, price is good, people are assured of production. Tan Thang commune directs hamlets to put into production good, high-yield varieties to replace old pineapple areas. At the same time, invest in modern irrigation systems, apply advanced techniques in pineapple care to achieve productivity and quality, build the Tan Thang pineapple brand to develop in a sustainable direction.
