North Korea to meet Uzbekistan, South Korea to face Saudi Arabia in AFC U17 semi-finals

The four best names of the 2025 AFC U17 Championship have been revealed, namely North Korea, Uzbekistan, South Korea and host Saudi Arabia. Sadly, this year's tournament is missing Southeast Asian representatives.

The first semi-final will be between North Korea U17 and Uzbekistan U17. This is expected to be a feast for the eyes.

Uzbekistan has always been known as the “big guy” in youth tournaments. The Central Asian representative still shows formidable strength as the only team to win all 4 matches since the beginning of the tournament.

They scored 12 goals and did not concede more than one goal per match. Meanwhile, North Korea U17 created a big surprise in the quarter-finals when they crushed Indonesia U17 with a score of 6-0.

Notably, North Korea only qualified for the quarterfinals as the second team in the group. This impressive victory eliminated Indonesia U17, the only remaining team in Southeast Asia.

The second semi-final match between U17 Korea and U17 Saudi Arabia is expected to be extremely dramatic. Both teams had to rely on a nerve-wracking penalty shootout to overcome their quarter-final opponents after a 2-2 draw in regular time.

The Korean team is showing a strong revival after the defeat against Indonesia in the group stage, with a bit of luck to advance further. As for U17 Saudi Arabia, home field advantage will certainly be a support to help them gain confidence before the confrontation.

The semi-final match between U17 Saudi Arabia and U17 Korea will take place at 9pm on April 17. Meanwhile, U17 Uzbekistan will meet U17 North Korea at 00:15 on April 18.
