Identifying agricultural production as playing an important role in the economy , in recent times, Trieu Phong district has prioritized allocating resources to restructure the agricultural sector towards sustainable development, including developing, expanding, and improving the quality and value of the district's key products in conjunction with new rural construction. To achieve that goal, building and consolidating agricultural cooperatives to better serve members is one of the prioritized solutions.
Up to now, the whole district has 83 cooperatives operating in the field of agricultural and fishery production with 19,682 members. Most cooperative members are representatives of households, there are no representatives of legal entities. The average total assets of a cooperative is 2,282 million VND, of which current assets are 486 million VND, fixed assets are 1,796 million VND, revenue is 712 million VND/year, average profit is 153 million VND/year.
In order to help people produce effectively, agricultural cooperatives play the role of "midwife" for farmers from the stage of propaganda and orientation of production development, to the stage of land preparation, supplying seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, purchasing agricultural products, many cooperatives also provide low-interest credit services.
To operate legally and effectively, cooperatives must convert their operations to the 2012 Law on Cooperatives, have a clear organizational structure and division of responsibilities, receive training in expertise, management skills, and cooperative accounting, and develop operating regulations and production and business plans appropriate to the actual situation and service provision capacity of the cooperative.
Through the cooperative, people have successfully implemented the production linkage model associated with the consumption of key products to ensure sustainability. In particular, the most prominent are the rice production linkage models in the direction of natural farming between Trieu Phong Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative and the cooperatives: Ngo Xa Dong, Trung An (Trieu Trung), Linh An (Trieu Trach), An Hung (Trieu Tai) with an area of 60 hectares of rice, of which 12 hectares have been certified to meet organic standards; the model of Quang Tri Agricultural Seed Center linking with people to produce 15 hectares of HC95 rice variety in two communes: Trieu Giang, Trieu Do, 11 hectares of commercial rice variety BDR57 in Bich La Cooperative (Trieu Thanh) has initially shown good results.
The model between Quang Tri Trading Corporation and the production association of 12 hectares of ST25 organic rice in Dai Hao Cooperative (Trieu Dai) and 77 hectares of organic rice in the following cooperatives: Phuoc Le (Trieu Phuoc), Trung An (Trieu Trung), Van Hoa (Trieu Hoa), Bich La (Trieu Thanh), Quang Dien A (Trieu Dai); organizing the production of 10 hectares of ST25 rice according to VietGAP standards in An Loi Cooperative (Trieu Do); the model of Song Gianh Corporation and the production association of 30 hectares of ADI28 rice variety in the organic direction in Thanh Liem Cooperative (Trieu Do) and Dong Trieu Cooperative (Trieu Long).
The model of Thua Thien Hue Plant and Animal Seed Joint Stock Company linking to produce 40 hectares of HG12 rice variety in Bich La Cooperative (Trieu Thanh); the model of Ha Phat Company linking to produce 30 hectares of Ha Phat 3 rice variety in Ngo Xa Dong Cooperative (Trieu Trung). Some typical linkage models in high-tech livestock farming in the area include the model between CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company and the livestock farm of Mr. Le Dinh Vung (Trieu Thuan), Mr. Le Ngoc Tam (Trieu Son)...
In addition, localities in the district have successfully built certified organic, VietGAP and equivalent raw material areas, focusing on key products such as rice, livestock, fruit trees, and planted forests. Particularly for rice, 24 hectares of organic rice have been certified by Trieu Phong Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative (Trieu Tai), Dai Hao Cooperative (Trieu Dai); VietGap certification for rice production areas in cooperatives: Le Xuyen (Trieu Trach), Phuoc Le (Trieu Phuoc), Phu Ang (Trieu Giang), An Loi (Trieu Do).
Among the communes with many effectively operating cooperatives, Trieu Dai commune has 8 cooperatives, of which 2 cooperatives, Dai Hao and Quang Dien A, are classified as good. Quang Dien A cooperative was also recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as a new-style cooperative in 2020. Trieu Trach commune has 6 cooperatives, of which Linh An cooperative and Long Quang cooperative were recognized as new-style cooperatives in 2019 and 2020. Linh An cooperative is recognized as one of the province's typical advanced cooperatives in the period 2016-2022.
Along with that, localities are very interested in organizing agricultural production to increase the value per unit area and create product brands. Accordingly, Trieu Dai commune has Sau Nhan gai leaf cake product recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as a 3-star provincial OCOP product; Trieu Trach commune has Suong Mai rice cake product winning the second prize in the 2019 Women's Entrepreneurship Competition, receiving a certificate of typical rural industrial product at the provincial level in 2020; Long Quang watermelon product is granted a trademark by the Department of Intellectual Property, has been traced for product origin and is in the process of granting VietGAP certification.
Many cooperatives have actively applied digital transformation to trace the origin of the commune's key products and sell them through e-commerce channels such as rice linked with Quang Tri Trading Corporation, Long Quang watermelon, and Van Tuong clean guava with quite good consumption.
Currently, the entire Trieu Phong district cultivates 16,059 hectares of annual crops, of which rice accounts for 11,524.7 hectares. To increase production value and ensure delicious, clean rice for consumers, localities have cultivated high-quality rice accounting for about 80% of the area, with an average annual rice yield of 58-60 quintals/ha, and an average annual paddy output of 70,000 tons...
