After 7:30 pm tonight (November 27), many areas in Ho Chi Minh City are still deeply flooded such as Tran Xuan Soan, Dao Su Tich, Huynh Tan Phat, Nguyen Binh, Le Van Luong, Highway 50, Pham Huu Lau... making it very difficult for people to travel. On both sides of the road, business activities are "frozen", many families have had their homes flooded by high tides, disrupting their daily lives.
Previously, the Southern Hydrometeorological Station predicted that from November 27-29 (October 15-17 of the lunar calendar), there could be a tidal peak exceeding alert level 3 according to the high tide period of the 15th day of the 10th lunar month.
Recorded at 7:30 p.m., high tides flooded many low-lying areas in District 7 and Nha Be District of Ho Chi Minh City. The floodwaters made it difficult to tell where roads were, rivers, and canals, making it difficult for people to travel. Tran Xuan Soan Street (District 7) is the street that is often flooded the most during high tides. The flooding started at 4:30 p.m., but by 7:30 p.m. the water had not yet receded.
High tides cause flooding during rush hour, making it very difficult for people to travel.
Mr. Vuong Quoc Khanh (61 years old) was pushing water out of his house and said: "Every time there is a high tide, this road is flooded, so we can't do any business. We have to accept it. Raising the house regularly is not good either, because the high tide gets bigger every year, so there is no other way."
Flood water like rivers makes it difficult for people to travel.
Many people living on Tran Xuan Soan Street are also in a situation where they cannot go or stay. Business is also sluggish, they have to wait for the tide to recede before opening their doors to welcome customers.
Every time a car passes by, the water waves flood into the house. "This area is often flooded. The water often rises a lot at night, this alley has been flooded for about half a month now," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Van (81 years old, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City). Floods caused many cars to stall. Driving positions to avoid flooding are easily seen when driving through flooded roads in Ho Chi Minh City.
Ho Chi Minh City is about to welcome the highest high tide of the year . The high tide peak on the full moon day of the 10th lunar month in Ho Chi Minh City is forecast to be the highest of the year, appearing on November 27-29 at a level of 1.7-1.75m, causing flooding in low-lying areas and along rivers.
