On June 13, Binh Duong Provincial Police announced that they had successfully launched a campaign to eradicate an online soccer betting ring with transactions worth tens of billions of dong.

Previously, the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of Binh Duong Provincial Police coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security's Professional Department to discover that Do Van Tam (born in 1988, registered residence in My Phuoc Ward, Ben Cat Town, Binh Duong Province) and his accomplices were organizing a large-scale illegal football betting ring on the internet in Binh Duong Province.
As the leader, Tam collaborated with Le Minh Tri (born in 1992, from Ben Tre province) and several others to organize football betting transactions assigned by the bookmaker with a limit of 150,000 USD in virtual gambling money/day.
To attract players and deceive the authorities, Tam and his accomplices opened 17 football betting accounts. By the time the suspects were discovered and arrested, the police determined that the total amount of money the suspects used for online football betting transactions was about 63 billion VND.
Through the struggle, the suspects admitted to illegal football betting. The task force is continuing to work with related people and is freezing over 40 bank accounts that the suspects used for football betting purposes.
The incident is under further investigation.
