With the high competitive advantages of the Vietnamese textile and garment industry at the national, regional and global levels, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has assigned the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) to cooperate with Mess Frankfurt Group (Germany) to organize the annual International Trade Exhibition on Apparel, Textiles and Garments (VIATT 2024). The first edition of VIATT will be launched from February 28 to March 1, 2024 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), Ho Chi Minh City.

Discussing the comprehensive nature and full response to business needs of VIATT, representatives from both Messe Frankfurt and Vietrade highly agreed on the practicality and opportunities for the entire textile and garment industry value chain due to a leading event in Southeast Asia being held for the first time in Ho Chi Minh City. It was held at the right time when businesses are looking for supplies in the spring.

In its first year, the exhibition is expected to attract more than 500 exhibitors on a total area of approximately 18,000 m2 and approximately 35,000 visitors. Ms. Wendy Wen, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt Hong Kong, assessed the importance of the exhibition on a global scale.

As a complementary trade event to Messe Frankfurt Hong Kong’s existing events in China, VIATT will effectively expand its market reach into Southeast Asia, strengthening its global network of expertise, said Wendy Wen. “ Our network, which connects more than half a million textile professionals globally and has organized more than 50 international textile trade fairs in 11 different countries, will provide comprehensive support to VIATT,” said Wendy Wen.

According to Ms. Wendy Wen, with this agreement, Messe Frankfurt Hong Kong will leverage more than 30 years of experience organizing Intertextile Textile Exhibition in China and expand into the fast-growing textile industry in Vietnam. To date, Intertextile has become the most influential chain in Messe Frankfurt's professional network, with a wide range of resources in apparel fabrics, home textiles and custom textiles.

In addition, with Vietnam’s largest international airport and seaport, as well as its proximity to other textile-producing countries and regions, Ho Chi Minh City is strategically positioned to host this international event. The city attracts 35% of Vietnam’s foreign direct investment projects and is the chosen location for most of the country’s trade fairs.

At the press conference, Director of the Trade Promotion Agency - Mr. Vu Ba Phu said: Vietnam has emerged as one of the top 3 textile and garment exporting countries in the world, with exceptionally high growth, averaging nearly 20% over the past 10 years. As companies seek to diversify their supply chains and Vietnam is in possession of important new-generation free trade agreements, this market is expected to attract even more investment. Green manufacturing and sustainable products are also becoming increasingly important. Therefore, VIATT 2024 will be a meeting place for suppliers and buyers of all categories, to source and exploit the full potential of this market.

By connecting textile companies from across Asia, Europe… to this vibrant market, VIATT 2024 promises to play an important role in shaping the future of Vietnam’s textile industry.

VIATT 2024 will bring together domestic and international exhibitors operating in many sectors of the world from garments, fabrics and garment accessories, yarns and fibers, digital printing, home textiles, technical textiles and nonwovens, textile processing, textile machinery....

Exhibitors and buyers can take advantage of the exhibition’s global business matching service, where connections are made based on each party’s specific needs. In addition to its main function as an international trading platform, the exhibition’s side events will also enable participants to connect with industry leaders and provide a variety of market information through seminars, forums and discussion sessions.
