On September 19, the Ministry of Health sent a telegram to provinces and cities in the Northern and Central regions and medical units about proactively deploying medical work to respond to storm No. 4.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Health recommends that localities and units closely monitor the developments of storms, the situation of rain and floods, information on flash floods, landslides, and land subsidence due to rain and floods according to the announcements of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting and the mass media; proactively review plans and solutions for storm and flood prevention and control and deploy storm and flood prevention and response work in accordance with the developments of natural disasters and practical requirements of localities and units; organize professional and emergency duty 24/7, be ready to receive and provide emergency care for victims caused by rain and floods, and avoid interruptions in emergency care and treatment for people.
The Ministry of Health also requested medical units to ensure adequate supply of essential medicines for people, promptly replenish reserves of medicines, chemicals, and supplies for natural disaster prevention and search and rescue; immediately deploy plans to protect medical facilities in areas at risk of being affected by floods, proactively evacuate medical facilities in low-lying areas at risk of flooding, flash floods, landslides.
The Ministry of Health requests health departments and medical units in the Northern and Central regions to organize environmental sanitation, disease prevention, ensure clean water, and food safety due to storms and floods; arrange and stabilize medical examination and treatment facilities, ensure medical examination and treatment for people after floods; report on damage, needs, and local capacity to the Ministry of Health and propose support when exceeding local capacity.
