Attending the meeting were comrades Doan Anh Dung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Hong Hai - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Thi Thuan Bich - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, and representatives of a number of relevant departments, branches, and units. The meeting was connected online at the bridge points of the district and town Party Committees including La Gi, Ham Thuan Nam, Ham Thuan Bac, Bac Binh, Ham Tan, and Tuy Phong.
According to the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee, implementing Conclusion No. 977 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, on April 22, 2024, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 924/QD-UBND approving the Project on sustainable development of dragon fruit trees to 2030 (Project). Up to now, after more than 6 months of implementing the Project, with the focused leadership and direction of all levels and the consensus of the people, the sustainable development of dragon fruit trees has been maintained stably, and market development work has been focused on implementation. The area of dragon fruit trees in the whole province is about 26,900 hectares, with an output of 460,000 tons. The whole province has 12 safe dragon fruit supply chains, including 9 fresh dragon fruit chains with an output of 90,610 tons/year and 3 processed dragon fruit product chains with an output of 165 tons/year. In the first 9 months of 2024, the export value of dragon fruit in the province is estimated at 6,400,000 USD, an increase of 2.31% over the same period last year; dragon fruit export output in the first 9 months of the year is estimated at 5,340 tons, an increase of 9.4% over the same period...
At the meeting, delegates expressed their opinions on the application of high science and technology to improve quality and added value. At the same time, promote dragon fruit products in domestic and foreign markets... Departments and localities also proposed solutions to boost domestic market consumption, especially in the Northern region. Concluding the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hoai Anh emphasized: Dragon fruit is a key crop of the province. Since the issuance of the Project, all levels and sectors in the province have implemented a number of tasks, with many good points, and the development of dragon fruit trees has continued to be maintained. However, the development of dragon fruit trees and dragon fruit products still faces many difficulties. In particular, the existing dragon fruit varieties still have many limitations, affecting quality, low competitive value, and processed products are not diverse and abundant...
Therefore, the Provincial Party Secretary requested the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee to continue to closely follow Conclusion No. 977 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, effectively implementing the development of sustainable dragon fruit with high added value. Along with that, continue to research, analyze, forecast the market situation, potential advantages, thereby determining specific tasks to implement. Strengthen the forms of cooperation and linkage along the value chain, especially the linkage between people and businesses, cooperatives, and cooperative groups in production, processing, and consumption of products.
The Provincial Party Secretary also proposed to attract, encourage and facilitate the production and processing of dragon fruit in various fields. Promote the application of science and technology, digital transformation, and green transformation. Strengthen propaganda and mobilize people to apply advanced production processes such as VietGAP, GlobalGAP, and organic production processes that adapt to climate change. In addition, it is necessary to promote the selection of new high-yield varieties and research and implement a dragon fruit model that reduces emissions. The Provincial Party Secretary noted the need to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of state management of land and the environment, effectively control fertilizers, pesticides, etc., ensure food safety and quality, and have clear traceability.
