(CLO) With the rapid development of technology, television is no longer a traditional means of transmitting information. Now and in the future, artificial intelligence (AI) can completely change the way television programs are produced and transmitted.
Nghe An Radio and Television Station is one of the pioneering local television stations in applying technology to innovate the way of transmitting information. In particular, a short 8-minute news bulletin, regularly appearing every week with the appearance of a virtual MC, has made AI no longer strange to television workers and Nghe An audiences.
Journalist Nguyen Van Truong, Program Production Department, Nghe An Radio and Television Station, said that the station now regularly produces television products with the support of AI. This work has become familiar, feels easy, not as difficult as people think. It does not require someone who knows a lot about technology to do it, just a normal reporter or editor with a little passion can do it.

Not only creating virtual MCs, AI can now create program scripts, edit news, create subtitles, and perform on-demand scenes with professional camera movements. At Ho Chi Minh City Television, AI has been applied and developed rapidly in recent years. The station has had television products that use 96% of AI work, which is a weather forecast program.
In which, the weather forecast information is updated by the BTV based on the Hydrometeorological Forecasting Center, accounting for 6% of the work. Then the BTV uses AI to read and the AI MC hosts the weather program, which is broadcast on a number of digital platforms. The AI MC is highly flexible when informing viewers, singing, dancing, creating a fun atmosphere that real MCs rarely do.
It only takes 1 minute for the AI to create a song or music. On sunny days, the music is happy, on rainy and gloomy days, the music is sadder. Currently, AI has become a companion, using AI has become a habit of every staff member in the station. The audience will follow every day, then wait for the AI to come up with a new song and dance today.
Journalist Ngo Tran Thinh - Head of Digital Content Department - News Center - Ho Chi Minh City Television Station said, "Currently, we are using AI to interact with audiences on different platforms, including social networks. AI can respond to audiences, comment, make friends, like, and share. There have been older people at the station who used AI products to create some journalistic products on the TikTok platform, and then the products attracted more than 2 million views. It is individuals like them who have inspired many other officers and reporters at the station."
In fact, many TV stations around the world and in Vietnam have used virtual MCs to automatically convert commentary from foreign languages to Vietnamese. This technology can convert the voice of a real MC speaking Korean to a virtual MC speaking Vietnamese and adding commentary.

This virtual MC has its own advantages, not only operating 24/7 but also having high accuracy, no spelling mistakes, can be used in emergency situations when news needs to be updated continuously without a real MC. This is especially important when many television news agencies today have to update news every hour of the day.
Today, virtual MCs can use more than 100 avatars with a variety of styles, from traditional to modern, supporting 300 voices and 40 languages of different countries.
Mr. Pham Tan Anh Vu - Chief Representative of the Southern region of Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Solutions Joint Stock Company (VAIS) said that today, AI technology can allow learning the voices of each region, people train AI to have the voices of each individual, AI can learn a real MC voice in about 60 minutes.
“We already have a virtual MC, if we can combine it with a virtual studio, we will save more production costs, virtual MCs and virtual studios. Thanks to the virtual studio, we can create a 3D space, the camera can capture the virtual MC from all different angles in the virtual studio. The robot will automatically film, zoom in, zoom out...”, Mr. Pham Tan Anh Vu shared.
It can be affirmed that AI technology is developing extremely strongly today, the application of AI is an inevitable story, the only thing is whether we know how to use it or not. Grasping technology trends, practicing multi-platform working skills along with maintaining professional ethics are important factors that help television journalists not only survive but also thrive in the digital age.
