Paying tribute to the heroic soldiers of Hoang Sa.

(Baoquangngai.vn) - On March 25th (corresponding to the 16th day of the 2nd lunar month), the An Hai Village Temple Celebration Committee (Ly Son) organized the Hoang Sa Soldiers' Commemoration Ceremony to pay tribute to and remember the Hoang Sa soldiers of the former Hoang Sa Bac Hai Heroic Army who contributed to planting markers in the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos to affirm Vietnam's sovereignty .

The Khao Le The Linh Hoang Sa ceremony took place in a solemn and respectful atmosphere, with the descendants of An Hai village in particular and the residents of Ly Son island in general paying homage to the heroic soldiers of Hoang Sa in the Hoang Sa Bac Hai team, with many important rituals.

Fishing boats and effigies are used in the ritual.

"The Hoang Sa Islands are a vast expanse of sky and sea/Those who go there may not return/Hoang Sa is surrounded by clouds and water/In February, a feast is held to honor the soldiers of Hoang Sa."

That folk verse resonates in the hearts of generations of Ly Son people, proving that, even knowing "there is no return," the sons and daughters of Ly Son island still sail out to sea, carrying the mission bestowed by the king to plant eternal markers of Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.

The ceremony honoring the soldiers of Hoang Sa took place in a solemn and respectful atmosphere, with descendants paying homage to the heroic soldiers of Hoang Sa.

“The An Hai Village Temple Celebration Committee organizes the annual Hoang Sa Soldiers' Commemoration Ceremony to affirm Vietnam's inviolable sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos. The ceremony also educates present and future generations about the tradition of patriotism, encouraging them to continue safeguarding Vietnam's maritime and island sovereignty,” said Truong Van Diet, Head of the An Hai Village Temple Celebration Committee.

Following the main ceremony of Khao Le The Linh Hoang Sa, the shaman performs the rituals of placing the spirits of the Hoang Sa soldiers in their places before releasing the boats into the sea. This is a deeply humane ritual of the people of Ly Son - offering sacrifices on behalf of the living to pray for the safety of the Hoang Sa soldiers before they set off on their mission.

The shaman performs the ritual of substituting soldiers and scatters rice and salt for the effigies.

At the end of the ceremony, the sound of conch shells was blown in a solemn, resonant tone, signaling the young men of the village to carry their fishing boats to the waters of the Hoang Sa archipelago. This is the same path that, more than 400 years ago, their ancestors took from Ly Son Island across the open sea in simple fishing boats, enduring hardships and even sacrificing their lives in the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa islands in the cause of protecting the sovereignty of the Vietnamese nation's seas and islands.

"The conch shells have risen, let the father go to guard the seas and skies of Hoang Sa" - The deep, resonant sound of the conch shells recreates the farewell ceremony for the soldiers heading to Hoang Sa in the Hoang Sa Bac Hai fleet, who sailed across the open sea on their mission.
