Thu's grandmother, Nguyen Thi Thuy, said: Currently, both Thu's father and mother are at Children's Hospital 1 - Ho Chi Minh City taking turns taking care of her. Thu's condition has not improved, so the family is very worried. "Now we just hope that she will recover soon so that she can return home and continue going to school like her peers," Thu's grandmother said in tears. According to Thu's grandmother, since she got sick, the cost of her treatment has been more than 150 million VND. Her parents are both low-income workers, and Thu has a younger brother. For the past 5 months, her parents have had to quit their jobs to take care of her at the hospital, so they have no income while the hospital fees are increasing, so the family's finances are also exhausted. “Thanks to the help of benefactors, individuals and organizations, the family has the funds to continue treating the child. On behalf of the family, I would like to thank the golden hearts of Binh Thuan Newspaper readers and benefactors who have shared and supported the family during the most difficult time.”

On April 6, 2025, Binh Thuan Newspaper published an article "Please help a 10th grade female student overcome a serious illness and return to school soon". Nguyen Thi Anh Thu - a 10th grade student at Quang Trung High School is a well-behaved, polite student with good academic performance and actively participates in movements and activities of the class and school. Because her parents work far from home, Thu has lived with her grandparents in village 2, Me Pu commune, Duc Linh district since childhood. In November 2024, during a mini-soccer practice, Thu unfortunately broke both ankles and was taken to the hospital for surgery. During the treatment of her leg, she unfortunately became infected and had to undergo multiple surgeries to remove the necrotic flesh. When everything seemed to be fine, more serious complications occurred. Prolonged treatment and the use of high doses of antibiotics caused kidney failure. More worryingly, the child's condition is becoming increasingly serious with complications such as pneumonia, blood infection and osteomyelitis. The child is currently being treated at the emergency department of Children's Hospital 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
