On behalf of the Party Central Committee member, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, on March 25, at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt, Ambassador Nguyen Huy Dung presented the decision to re-appoint Mr. Bakri Yousif Omer Osman, a Sudanese citizen, as Honorary Consul of Vietnam in the Republic of Sudan.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Huy Dung congratulated Mr. Bakri Osman and emphasized that the duty of the Honorary Consul is to protect the interests of the State, the rights and legitimate interests of Vietnamese citizens and legal entities in the host country in accordance with Vietnamese law, the laws of the host country and international treaties to which Vietnam and the host country are members, in accordance with international law and practice.
The Ambassador believes that with his experience, extensive local relationships and strong attachment to Vietnam, Mr. Bakri Osman will effectively support the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt in consular work and citizen protection; promote and encourage economic, trade, investment, cultural, educational - training, scientific - technological and tourism relations between Vietnam and Sudan, contributing to the further development of relations between the two countries. The Ambassador affirmed that he will do his best to support the Honorary Consul to successfully complete his assigned tasks.
Expressing sympathy and sharing the difficulties that the Sudanese people are facing, the Ambassador hoped that the situation in Sudan would soon stabilize and that all parties would seek a lasting peaceful solution, for the benefit of the Sudanese people and for peace and stability in the region. Vietnam is ready to participate in international humanitarian and reconstruction efforts in Sudan after the war ends.
On this occasion, Ambassador Nguyen Huy Dung provided new information on visa policies, visa exemptions, and procedures related to the issuance of e-visas in Vietnam.
For his part, Mr. Bakri Osman respectfully thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs for trusting him with this honor. He said he would overcome all difficulties and strive to fulfill the functions and tasks of an Honorary Consul, contributing to promoting relations between the two countries.
