Empowering women and improving the status of women in society is one of the important measures implemented by many countries in the world to achieve the goal of sustainable development. In Vietnam, with the right policies of the Party and State, the efforts of all levels, sectors and the whole society, the work of gender equality and the advancement of women has achieved very important results.
In Thanh Hoa, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee have directed and guided departments, agencies, branches, agencies, units and People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to synchronously and uniformly implement measures to promote gender equality. Therefore, this work has had a strong change, most of the targets according to the orientation of the National Strategy on Gender Equality for the period 2021 - 2030 have been implemented to ensure the roadmap and plan set out. Especially in the fields of education - training, economy, labor; ensuring gender equality in family life and preventing and responding to gender-based violence..., thereby contributing to narrowing the gender gap, creating conditions and opportunities for women to develop. According to statistics, up to now in Thanh Hoa, the rate of female leaders participating in Party committees at all levels is high: there are 7 women/65 comrades who are members of the Provincial Party Executive Committee (10.8%); There are 174 female/887 members of the District Party Committee (19.62%); 1,702 female/7,056 members of the Commune Party Committee (24.12%). The proportion of State management agencies and local authorities at all levels with key female leaders accounts for 27.5%. As of June 2024, the number of female salaried workers is 411,115, reaching 48.2% (40.1% in 2021); the number of female workers in the agricultural sector is 318,145, reaching 37.3% (39.5% in 2021). Gender equality is both a development goal and a factor in enhancing women's participation in the country's sustainable development process. Therefore, empowering women to achieve gender equality is a long-term goal that Vietnam is aiming for. However, in reality, women continue to face many challenges that hinder their ability to fully contribute to society. Addressing these challenges requires joint efforts from each individual, community and strong direction from all levels and sectors in formulating policies and strategies on women's empowerment, changing perceptions and social prejudices, and encouraging women's efforts to rise up. Thereby, enhancing women's voice and decision-making power, contributing to addressing limitations in the orientation of sustainable social development.
