As one of the three main activities of the Vietnam Dance Week 2024, the Vietnam Traditional Dance Competition has 16 authors with 18 works and 150 actors participating. The authors come from dance associations of provinces, cities, art schools, and dance troupes nationwide with works covering many different genres and dance forms.
Dr. People's Artist Nguyen Van Quang, Head of the Jury, said that the works were elaborately staged, with clear theme layouts, closely following the competition criteria. Some works exploited dance materials from ethnic groups through different perspectives in life, truly reflecting the life and cultural characteristics of each locality: "The artists and actors brought to the audience many emotions, many aesthetic values, and precious cultures of ethnic groups from all over the country, which are extremely unique to the Vietnamese dance art. Many talented artists and actors have appeared with high levels of performance techniques and acting skills. The dance language movements have been exploited quite well by the choreographers through each work. The actors brought to the audience unique impressions and new emotions with high professionalism."
With the spirit of objectivity, frankness and fairness, the Jury of the Vietnam Traditional Dance Competition unanimously decided to award 3 A Prizes to the dance works: Wooden Mask, Xo Pe and Forest Fireflies by authors: Nguyen Quang Anh, Vu Thi Hue and Nguyen Thi My Linh; award 6 B Prizes to the dance works: Triumphal Song, Dream Bell, Transmission, Night Pestle Sound, Sen Phan Ga, and Bay Chinh by authors: Vo Tho Thai, Tong Mai Len, Pham Van Han, Le Van Hai, Quang Van Viet and Phan Thi Thuc Linh.
After the closing ceremony and award ceremony of the Vietnam National Dance Competition, the Vietnam Dance Artists Association and the Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee also held the closing ceremony of the Vietnam Dance Week 2024 with the theme "River of Light".
