On the evening of August 20, the final round of the Hanoi City Reading Culture Ambassador Contest 2024, with the theme "Promoting the spirit of Thang Long - Hanoi to build a Cultural - Civilized - Modern Capital" took place in Hanoi. The contest was organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with the Library Department (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism ) to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).

Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Do Dinh Hong said that this year's contest is organized with higher requirements, quality and scale, aiming to create a useful and interesting playground for young people, teenagers and students in Hanoi, spreading the passion for reading to the younger generation; introducing and promoting the thousand-year-old capital in the process of integration and development; exchanging and sharing experiences of reading and developing a reading culture.

The contest will encourage and promote the reading movement in schools and communities, form habits and improve reading skills for students, encourage them to strive to study and through specific actions and deeds to contribute to building the Capital "Cultured - Civilized - Modern". The highlight of this year's contest compared to previous years is that the Organizing Committee has combined 2 forms of collective competition (book promotion) and individual competition (reading culture ambassador).

There were 354,632 entries (articles, video clips, paintings) from 1,335 primary, secondary and high schools in the city, along with 546 communes, wards and towns forming teams to participate in the collective competition (book promotion and introduction).

Through the competition rounds at all levels and the preliminary round at the city level, the Organizing Committee selected 6 groups and 6 individuals with outstanding achievements to enter the final round. In the group competition, the teams selected and introduced books about the Capital Hanoi - City for Peace - Creative City with attractive, creative and convincing presentation.

In the individual competition, in addition to submitting an article, video clip or painting, candidates also have to present and speak confidently and interestingly.

At the end of the competition, the Organizing Committee awarded 2 First prizes, 4 Second prizes, 31 Third prizes, 30 Consolation prizes and 10 Content prizes to individuals; 1 First prize, 3 Second prizes, 2 Third prizes, 24 Consolation prizes to groups, of which the First Prize for groups belonged to the Dong Anh district team.
