THUY KIEU MEETS KIM TRONG Material: Lacquer carving - Size: 82 x 102 cm Adapted from the Dong Ho folk painting The Tale of Kieu, commonly known simply as The Tale of Kieu, is a poetic story by the great poet Nguyen Du. This is considered the most famous poetic story and is considered a classic in Vietnamese literature. The work is written in Nom script in the six-eight meter, consisting of 3,254 verses. The painting depicts a small segment in The Tale of Kieu, in the middle of Thanh Minh festival, Thuy Kieu and Kim Trong: the two Kieu sisters shyly hide under a flower bush by the roadside, Kieu's younger brother Vuong Quan recognizes his friend and steps forward to greet him, and Kim Trong, with a very elegant appearance, is about to get off his horse to chat and confide. In the left corner of the painting are a few lines of notes: The most unusual encounter between Kim Van and Kieu: The familiar Vuong comes out to greet, The two Kieu shyly hide under the flowers. The original person is not far away, the Kim family name is Trong, originally from a noble family.
