Concerns about human resources in tourism.

Việt NamViệt Nam22/04/2025

To better serve the needs of tourists, tourism units and businesses in the province are currently rushing to renovate and prepare facilities, while also recruiting personnel for various positions. However, recruiting qualified personnel remains a difficult challenge.

Ha Tinh currently has 28 travel agencies, including 10 international and 18 domestic travel agencies, and 6 tourist transport companies. To effectively develop tourism tours and routes, a high-quality workforce with strong communication skills, excellent foreign language abilities, and the capacity to work under pressure is required, making recruitment very challenging.

In the accommodation sector alone, the province has 312 hotels and guesthouses with a capacity of nearly 7,000 rooms, including nearly 10 establishments meeting 3-5 star standards. However, due to the unique weather conditions, the workforce is constantly fluctuating. Every year, at the beginning of the tourist season, service establishments and businesses struggle to recruit and train staff, which is time-consuming, laborious, and costly.

An indispensable service in serving tourists is the restaurant industry. With nearly 1,600 restaurants and eateries spread across the mountains, plains, and coastal areas, Ha Tinh offers tourists and diners unforgettable experiences. However, this sector also faces difficulties in recruiting and retaining staff.

Ha Tinh currently has over 6,400 direct employees in tourism businesses and establishments, and over 15,000 indirect employees serving tourism activities. However, the percentage of workers with professional training is only about 33%. This figure partly reflects the quality and difficulties in recruiting, assigning, and utilizing human resources.

Ha Tinh province is actively developing various tourism types, including beach tourism, historical and cultural tourism, spiritual tourism, ecotourism, and rural agricultural tourism. However, due to the seasonal nature of the tourism sector, a shortage of human resources is unavoidable. Solving this problem requires comprehensive solutions, starting with training policies in schools and businesses. Furthermore, tourism businesses need to focus on recruiting and providing incentives for trained workers, creating opportunities for stable employment and contributing to improved service quality for tourists.
