The film producers of "Southern Forest Land" held a meet-and-greet and premiere event with the cast and crew on the afternoon of September 20th in Ho Chi Minh City.

At the event, Tran Thanh, in his role as both investor and actor, received many questions about his portrayal of Uncle Ba Phi. Tran Thanh stated that the television series "Dat Phuong Nam" (Southern Land) is his favorite work, and the role of Uncle Ba Phi, played by actor Mac Can, is also a classic.

Therefore, some viewers have the right to compare and criticize his portrayal because they were deeply impressed by his portrayal of Uncle Ba Phi in television series. "I was a little hesitant when invited to play a classic role. However, I like challenges because challenges stimulate creativity. I tried to do things differently, creating a different image of Uncle Ba Phi, and I believe this version is completely new. It's not the image of a cute Uncle Ba Phi telling funny stories to everyone, but a different role that audiences will recognize when they see it in theaters," Tran Thanh shared.

He also added that if every filmmaker feared comparisons, there would never be new versions of classic works. Each work from different eras brings differences due to budget, technical resources, script, director's storytelling style, etc. Therefore, films like "Journey to the West" and "The Condor Heroes" have been made in countless versions, and despite differing opinions, each version has its own unique elements.

Director Nguyen Quang Dung believes Tran Thanh is well-suited for the role of Uncle Ba Phi. This role requires an actor who is eloquent but also possesses a wealth of hidden meanings. The film's artistic advisor, director Vinh Son – director of "Southern Land" – hopes that the audience will respect the differences, as a remake after 25 years requires some changes.

When the event ended, Hari Won was invited onto the stage to take commemorative photos with the film crew. Tran Thanh didn't hesitate to kiss his wife on the cheek for coming to support him. The couple smiled brightly.

"Southern Forest Land" is a work inspired by the story of writer Doan Gioi, recounting the journey of a boy named An in search of his father. Along his long journey through the Southern region, An receives support and love from the generous and righteous people of Southern Vietnam. As he grows up, he understands why his father left him.

The film was released on October 20th and will have a sequel if it receives positive feedback from the audience.
