After the first tournament in 2025 took place in Bogota (Colombia) in March, the next stage of the 3-cushion billiards World Cup will be held in Ho Chi Minh City this coming May. At home, the Vietnamese 3-cushion billiards team will participate with more than 20 players. Of which, Tran Quyet Chien is the Vietnamese player with the highest ranking on the World Carom Billiards Federation (UMB) rankings. Besides Quyet Chien, Tran Thanh Luc, Bao Phuong Vinh, and Chiem Hong Thai will participate in the main round (round 32) of the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards World Cup 2025, because they are all in the top 14 on the UMB rankings. In addition, 2 more Vietnamese players will also enter the round of 32 with special tickets from the host unit (Ho Chi Minh City Billiards & Snooker Federation - HBSF).

In addition to the above names that will appear from the main round, about 20 Vietnamese players will also compete in the qualifying rounds of the tournament, including the brothers Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu - Nguyen Tran Thanh Tao, Tran Duc Minh, Nguyen Hoan Tat, Nguyen Nhu Le, Nguyen Dinh Quoc... Especially, we must mention veteran Ly The Vinh, when the U.70 player of Vietnam will compete with his colleagues from the first qualifying round. Previously, the legendary player of 3-cushion carom billiards of Vietnam impressed when he overcame many formidable opponents in the selection round to win a ticket to the World Cup. In 1997, he went to Indonesia to attend the 19th SEA Games and created a surprise for Vietnamese sports. At the regional sports festival, player Ly The Vinh excellently brought home the gold medal in 3-cushion carom billiards. This is the first prestigious medal that Vietnamese billiards has achieved at the SEA Games arena. During decades of competition, he has brought many titles to Vietnamese sports such as: Gold medal at SEA Games 19, Gold medal at SEA Games 22, Bronze medal at ASIAD 16 (2010 in Guangzhou, China).

Vietnamese players are expected to continue their success at the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City 3-cushion Billiards World Cup. Ho Chi Minh City's home field is always considered a lucky place for Vietnamese players, with 2 trophies remaining at Nguyen Du Stadium. In 2018, player Tran Quyet Chien won the World Cup Billiards in Ho Chi Minh City. This was also his first prestigious title in the international arena, and at the same time brought the career of the player born in 1984 to a new page. Up to now, the number 1 player in Vietnam has won 4 World Cup championships.

Most recently in May 2024, Tran Duc Minh won a spectacular championship at the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards World Cup, when the Hue native passed the qualifying rounds and went all the way to the finals. This championship brought his name closer to the world's 3-cushion carom billiards fans. Another reason for fans to put their trust in him is that Vietnamese players are getting more and more classy. At the first World Cup stage in 2025 in Bogota, Tran Thanh Luc defeated extremely strong players to win an impressive championship.
