* PRE-MATCH ANALYSIS
Coach Hoang Anh Tuan is undertaking the challenging yet captivating task of leading the Vietnamese Olympic team, with an average age of 20.3 (one of the youngest at ASIAD 19), to the knockout round. In the opening match, Coach Tuan and his team experienced mixed emotions: a nearly perfect first half contrasted sharply with a second half marred by numerous avoidable mistakes. A lack of experience, leading to overconfidence and underestimating the opponent, resulted in two goals conceded and unnecessary yellow cards for Duc Phu, Nguyen Hoang, and Duc Anh. Unsurprisingly, Coach Tuan expressed his strong dissatisfaction at the post-match press conference. However, on the morning of September 20th, he had the entire team do light recovery exercises before heading to a park near the hotel for a more relaxed discussion. The mistakes against the weaker Mongolian opponent were quickly identified, turning them into practical lessons for the team to reflect on and learn from.

The Vietnamese Olympic team did not perform as expected in their match against the Mongolian Olympic team.
Mr. Tuan expressed: "The fact that our two rivals, Iran and Saudi Arabia, drew in the first match has posed a major challenge for the Vietnamese Olympic team. We will advance if we get 3 points against Iran, at least a draw to ensure we are among the top 4 third-placed teams with the best performance. At a major tournament like the ASIAD, every match is full of challenges. However, I want my players to look further ahead and see these challenges as normal. They need to have a very strong mentality and prepare wisely for this important match."
In their opening match, the Vietnamese Olympic team showed confidence in their ball control, maintaining the tempo of the game and effectively transitioning between phases. This was crucial, especially considering our rotation of players from the start to conserve energy for the match against the Iranian Olympic team. Physical fitness will be key, as the weather in Hangzhou is quite hot and Iran expended a lot of energy in their 0-0 draw with Saudi Arabia. The Vietnamese Olympic coaching staff attended this match to plan for the next two games. It's also worth noting that the Iranian Olympic team only registered four players and one reserve goalkeeper. Coach Enayati Gholamreza largely kept the same core squad from the tough battle against Saudi Arabia, making only two substitutions: striker Barzegar (74th minute) and defender Shah Abbasi (90+1 minute). This indicates that Iran has limited options and will be at a physical disadvantage compared to the Vietnamese Olympic team, who proactively played a slower, more cautious game in the second half against Mongolia.

Will joy come to the Vietnamese Olympic team?
Psychologically, we have the support of history, having previously defeated the Iranian Olympic team 4-1 and advanced to the next round at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. However, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan was very cautious, stating: "The Iranian Olympic team has shown the level of a top-tier team. They possess strong, physically imposing players who are capable of fast dribbling. This team has a modern playing style and will not be easy to deal with. Jafari Seighalani and Mamizadeh are the most dangerous players, due to their technical skills and unpredictability. However, I and the coaching staff have identified the opponent's weaknesses, analyzed them thoroughly, and devised appropriate countermeasures. This is a crucial match, so the Vietnamese Olympic team must maintain maximum concentration from start to finish."
