On the morning of November 16, leaders of Tuy An district (Phu Yen province) said that the locality had mobilized military forces, police and local people to join the search for a male student who went missing while swimming in Nhon Hoi village, An Hoa Hai commune.
Hundreds of people joined the overnight search for the drowned student.
Initial information, at 4:00 p.m. on November 15, 4 students of class 10A5, Le Thanh Phuong High School (An My commune, Tuy An district) were swimming at Nhon Hoi village beach.
At around 5pm, Le Binh Quoc Viet (born in 2009, resident of Phu Phong village, An Hiep commune) was swept away by waves and drowned. Upon discovering the incident, the remaining 3 students immediately went ashore to call for help.
However, when the adults arrived, Viet had been swept away by the water and was missing. After the incident, Tuy An district authorities, along with functional forces and a large number of people, were mobilized to the area where the missing boy went missing to search.
Authorities are always present in the search area.
However, as of this morning, the victim's whereabouts have not been found.
The weather in Phu Yen in recent days has been scattered rain and rough seas. According to professional rescuers, during rough seas, rip currents appear very strong at most of Phu Yen beaches, so drowning cases often occur.
Research by the Phu Yen Department of Natural Resources and Environment shows that from October of the previous year to March of the following year, Phu Yen beaches often experience rip currents. To avoid danger to life, locals and tourists should not swim in the sea during the rough sea season, especially those who cannot swim or are weak swimmers.
