Present at the check-in counter at Terminal T2 on the morning of April 3, we noticed that there were quite a few passengers performing automatic immigration procedures. Mr. Ho Thanh Quy, a passenger traveling to Korea, said: “I was very surprised to see that Da Nang airport had applied this procedure. I thought that only developed countries like Germany, the US, the UK, South Korea, Japan, etc. could implement this advanced procedure.”

Sharing the same thought, passenger Yong Sung Ok (Korea) shared that the automatic check-in, baggage drop-off and immigration counters help passengers save a lot of time compared to the traditional way. According to many passengers, the time to do this task is only about 1 minute, thereby significantly reducing the time to do the procedure.

Having just returned to Da Nang from Thailand, Mr. Le Huu Hiep did not have to queue as before to wait for immigration procedures, but only a few steps to complete the above work. According to Mr. Hiep, almost all developed countries implement automatic customs clearance procedures and Da Nang is the first city in Vietnam to apply this model.

Currently, at Terminal T2, Da Nang International Airport, passengers can easily complete procedures with the Self Check-in Kiosk system and then quickly check in their luggage at the Self Bag-drop counter. Immigration control steps are also significantly shortened thanks to the Autogate system.

Passengers can board the plane seamlessly through the Auto Boarding Gate, reducing manual operations and optimizing travel time. This improvement is thanks to the application of the smart terminal model at the airport. In 2024, AHT Company will cooperate with FPT Software to deploy the smart airport model at Terminal T2, contributing to improving the experience for international visitors.

According to AHT leaders, in the context of technology dramatically changing the way people move and connect, Da Nang International Airport continues to affirm its pioneering role by applying modern technological solutions to operations and passenger services. AHT has sponsored 8 automatic immigration gates for the Immigration Department - Ministry of Public Security , deployed in two phases. Of which, the first 4 gates were handed over and put into operation immediately after the handover ceremony on March 20; the remaining 4 gates will continue to be installed and completed in the coming time. With this milestone, Da Nang International Airport has become a terminal that completes 100% automatic check-in procedures from "check-in" to boarding the plane.

“This is an important milestone in enhancing the passenger experience and demonstrates the airport's commitment to applying advanced technology to optimize operations and bring maximum convenience to passengers,” said a representative of AHT Company.

In addition, the airport is also equipped with a video call kiosk system and a multilingual information lookup screen, helping passengers easily search for information about flights, services and amenities. This is also an important connection channel for the airport to receive feedback from customers, continuously improving service quality. In addition, the AI ​​camera system is deployed at check-in areas to measure passenger density in real time, providing online data to the operations department to quickly deploy regulatory measures, reduce congestion and optimize check-in time. Thanks to improved service quality, Terminal T2 - Da Nang International Airport has achieved Skytrax's 5-star standard certification in 2024 and 2025.

In order to meet the increasing demand of passengers, AHT is proposing to the City People's Committee and relevant agencies to implement the T2 terminal expansion project, expected to start on September 2, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2. The highlight of the expansion project is the balance between traditional check-in counters and automated systems, giving passengers more options and optimizing check-in time.

With a total area of ^{​​52,000m2} , Terminal T2 has a modern design, inspired by the image of a seagull. This project was built with a total investment of about 3,500 billion VND, put into operation in 2017, serving major international events, including the APEC 2017 Summit Week. The terminal is of international standards, with two separate areas for departing and arriving passengers. AHT is cooperating with many domestic and international airlines to serve millions of passengers each year.
