Tra Vinh ranked 5th in the country in terms of index assessing the results of implementing free trade agreements.

Attending the event were comrades: Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Prime Minister; Bui Thanh Son, Party Central Committee member, Deputy Prime Minister; Nguyen Hong Dien, Minister of Industry and Trade, along with leaders of ministries, central and local sectors, enterprises, etc.

At the Tra Vinh bridge point, there were comrade Pham Van Tam, Provincial Party Committee member, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, along with leaders of provincial departments, branches, and sectors, People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities in the province.

FTA Index is a new, quantitative and systematic tool, built on the basis of a survey of enterprises in 63 provinces and cities nationwide. The survey focuses on four main aspects: (1) the level of access to information about FTAs ​​by enterprises; (2) compliance with domestic legal regulations from FTA commitments; (3) the effectiveness of programs and policies to support enterprises in taking advantage of FTAs; (4) the implementation of sustainable development commitments at the local level, while recording the difficulties and obstacles that enterprises are facing.

The total score of each locality is calculated based on a 10-point scale for each component index, forming a maximum total score of 40. The results show that the province with the highest total score is 34.90 points, the province with the lowest score is only 14.49 points. The average value of the total score is 26.20 points and the median value is 20.40 points.

Accordingly, the Top 10 localities leading the country in terms of FTA Index score in 2024 include: Ca Mau (34.90 points), Thanh Hoa (34.13 points), Binh Duong (34.03 points), Khanh Hoa (32.96 points), Tra Vinh (32.74 points), Long An (32.50 points), Ha Giang (32.46 points), Bac Lieu (32.43 points), Ninh Binh (31.74 points), Dien Bien (31.72 points).

At the ceremony, the Prime Minister awarded certificates of merit to 05 provinces and cities with achievements in evaluating the results of implementing Free Trade Agreements (FTA Index) in 2024; leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Home Affairs awarded certificates of merit to 04 provinces and cities with the best results in evaluating the results of implementing Free Trade Agreements in 2024 for component indexes, and awarded certificates of merit to 14 provinces and cities with good results in evaluating the results of implementing Free Trade Agreements (FTA Index) in 2024; the Minister of Industry and Trade awarded certificates of merit to 08 provinces and cities with good results in evaluating the results of implementing Free Trade Agreements (FTA Index) in 2024.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated the localities with high FTA indexes that were honored, and affirmed that in the context of globalization and increasingly deep international economic integration, free trade agreements have become a mainstream trend to promote trade exchange between countries. International integration is an important driving force to bring the country into a new era, an era of prosperity, and foreign affairs is an important task.

The FTA Index aims to provide a transparent and objective database for the Government, central and local agencies in directing, supervising and operating integration work; supporting localities in evaluating the results of FTA implementation according to the proposed action program; as a basis for planning policies and development strategies suitable to the conditions and potentials of each locality, thereby improving the investment environment better...
