The province currently has 143 Khmer Theravada Buddhist pagodas, which are unique architectural and artistic works; 2 national treasures, 8 national intangible cultural heritages, 16 national relics and 41 provincial relics. These are favorable conditions to attract and develop cultural tourism.
In recent years, Tra Vinh has focused on preserving and promoting cultural values to create unique tourism products. Cau Ke district with its cultural relics, ancient houses and unique religious beliefs has become an attractive tourist destination, bearing the cultural imprint of the province. The 100-year Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Festival event associated with the Vu Lan Thang Hoi week in 2024 has attracted the attention of many domestic and foreign tourists.
According to Mr. Duong Hoang Sum, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tra Vinh province, the province has proposed many important orientations to preserve and develop cultural heritages. Among them is the Vu Lan Thang Hoi festival, a newly recognized heritage included in the national intangible heritage.
Accordingly, the cultural sector continues to promote the dissemination and promotion of cultural heritage values through events and festival activities, while continuing to carry out activities to support the community, families and artisans in organizing the teaching, performance and promotion of festivals.
Traditional rituals and related social practices will be restored and maintained, ensuring that the festival is not only preserved but also developed sustainably in contemporary life. In particular, activities such as performing arts, traditional music and Buddhist rituals will continue to be maintained and developed.

In fact, tourism development in Tra Vinh province is not commensurate with its potential, the number of visitors and tourism revenue is still modest compared to other provinces and cities in the region. Investment resources in tourism infrastructure and conservation work still have certain limitations, requiring support and cooperation from organizations inside and outside the province.
According to experts, to develop sustainable tourism, Tra Vinh province needs to strengthen the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage values, call for investment, strengthen cooperation with international organizations to gain more resources and experience in heritage preservation and sustainable tourism development, and at the same time improve the quality of tourism human resource training, especially tour guide skills, tourism management and heritage conservation.
Mr. Le Thanh Phong, Vice President of the Mekong Delta Tourism Association, said that, following the current trend, Tra Vinh needs to promote the province's cultural heritage and tourist attractions through modern media channels, while creating new and attractive tourism products based on heritage values. Encourage the participation of local communities in tourism activities, thereby creating jobs and improving people's lives, while preserving traditional cultural features.

Although there are still many challenges, with the right efforts and policies, Tra Vinh can completely become an attractive tourist destination, contributing to the economic and cultural development of the region.
Maintaining and promoting heritage values in the process of tourism development is not only the responsibility of the government but also of the whole community, contributing to creating a sustainable development of Tra Vinh.
