According to the report of the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province, implementing the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025" launched by the Prime Minister, through reviewing the number of poor and near-poor households facing housing difficulties, the province has focused resources on implementation, striving to complete by the end of April 2025.
According to the leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Department of Construction, poor and near-poor households under the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province have been supported according to Decision No. 2270/QD-UBND dated December 17, 2024 of the Provincial People's Committee. Localities have started construction of 478/478 houses (305 new houses, 173 houses repaired). Of which, 359 houses have completed 100% of the project; 478 houses have received 50% advance funding (phase 1), 345 households have received the remaining 50% advance funding (phase 2).
Implementing Decision No. 410/QD-UBND dated February 28, 2025 and Decision No. 458/QD-UBND dated February 28, 2025, the whole province has started construction of 404/470 houses (121 new houses, 283 houses repaired). Of which, 95 houses have completed 100% of the project; 382 houses have received 50% advance payment (phase 1).
Thus, the total number of houses that have started construction is 882/948. Of these, 454 have been completed, accounting for 47.9% of the total number of houses; 428 are under construction, accounting for 45.1%; and 66 are not yet completed, accounting for 7%.

With the achieved results, Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee Le Van Han highly appreciated the efforts and responsibilities of departments, branches and localities in ensuring the progress of housing construction for disadvantaged households. This is an important political task, which needs to be focused on implementing on schedule, towards celebrating major holidays of the country in general and of the province in particular.
Accordingly, all levels, sectors and localities in the province need to focus on speeding up the progress; making the task of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses an important content in reviewing, evaluating, classifying cadres, party members, grassroots party organizations and giving rewards. Strengthening the work of monitoring, inspecting, urging and removing difficulties for the grassroots.
With that meaningful purpose, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province directed agencies, units and localities according to their assigned functions, tasks and management authority to urgently deploy and speed up the implementation of housing support for poor and near-poor households in the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province, ensuring completion before April 30, 2025 according to the direction of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province.
In recent times, Tra Vinh has always paid attention to directing and implementing well social security work, supporting house construction for households with housing difficulties.
In the 2021-2024 period, the province has implemented support for building new and improving houses for 6,142 poor households, near-poor households, newly escaped poverty households, and disadvantaged households whose houses do not meet the 3 hard requirements, with a total implementation cost of over 492 billion VND.
Implementing the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide launched by the Prime Minister, the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Tra Vinh province have resolutely led and directed the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the province, supporting a total of 4,186 households, with a total implementation cost of over 142.7 billion VND. Of which, 1,975 households with housing difficulties are supported from the Provincial Social Security Fund (to date, 100% of households have completed the project); eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for 948 poor and near-poor households (to date, 454 households have completed the project).
Currently, Tra Vinh is implementing housing support for 1,211 households of people with revolutionary contributions and martyrs' relatives (waiting for the Central Government to allocate funds for implementation) and 52 poor ethnic minority households under the National Target Program for Socio-economic Development of Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas (housing has been built for 7 households).
