Tra Vinh Province's Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection has carried out procedures to request the Plant Protection Department to review, synthesize and negotiate with the importing country (China) to grant an export code.
Specifically, coconut growing areas include: Rach Nghe hamlet (Thong Hoa commune) 150 hectares and Ngoc Ho hamlet (Tam Ngai commune) nearly 111 hectares in Cau Ke district.
In Cang Long district, there are coconut growing areas in Binh Hoi hamlet (Huyen Hoi commune) over 112 hectares; Van Hung (Binh Phu commune) over 130 hectares; Rach Dua hamlet (Dai Phuoc commune) over 63 hectares.
Chau Thanh district has the following growing areas: Soc That hamlet over 173 hectares and Ben Co hamlet nearly 159 hectares in Nguyet Hoa commune; Bot Chech hamlet nearly 137 hectares and O Chich B hamlet over 206 hectares in Luong Hoa commune.
The agricultural sector of Tra Vinh province actively guides gardeners to implement unified production processes, fully record cultivation diaries, manage pests according to the requirements of importing countries and fully comply with food safety conditions. Thus, in the coming time, the coconut industry of Tra Vinh province will have more consumption markets and increase its value.

Currently, Tra Vinh province has about 90,000 households growing coconuts on 27,390 hectares with nearly 7 million trees; most concentrated in Cang Long, Tieu Can and Cau Ke districts.
Tra Vinh's coconut growing area ranks second in the country, after Ben Tre province, with an output of about 444 million fruits/year.
Coconut is one of the local key crops, and the Provincial People's Committee has implemented a strategy to upgrade the value chain for many years.
Currently, the Department of Science and Technology of Tra Vinh province is reviewing and approving the implementation of the scientific and technological task on "Building a spatial distribution map, estimating carbon and CO2 absorption capacity on coconut biomass in Tra Vinh province", gradually aiming to participate in the carbon market of this industry.
Up to now, the province has 26 codes for agricultural export growing areas and 60 codes for domestic growing areas; including 1 coconut growing area for export in Rach Nghe hamlet, Thong Hoa commune, Cau Ke district with 150 hectares.
