HCMC: 7th Secondary School organizes capacity survey for students entering 6th grade

On May 26, information from the Department of Education and Training of Hoc Mon district (HCMC) said that Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School (Hoc Mon district) is the 7th secondary school in HCMC to announce enrollment by survey method, assessing students' capacity for grade 6 in the 2024-2025 school year.

Previously, Ho Chi Minh City had 6 secondary schools announce the implementation of the method of enrolling students into grade 6 by assessing and surveying students' abilities, including: Tran Dai Nghia Secondary - High School (District 1); Nguyen Huu Tho Secondary School (District 7); Binh Tho Secondary School, Hoa Lu Secondary School, Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School (Thu Duc City) and Ly Thanh Tong Secondary School (District 8).

In Hoc Mon district, Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School is the only secondary school in the district to organize a survey and evaluate the capacity of students entering grade 6 in the 2024-2025 school year.

The survey date is June 25, students will take the survey for 90 minutes. The survey consists of 2 parts: essay and multiple choice, in both English and Vietnamese.

In which, the multiple choice part consists of 20 questions in Vietnamese about understanding natural sciences, social sciences and common knowledge of life. The essay part consists of 3 parts: test English proficiency in listening - comprehension, reading - comprehension, writing skills; test math ability and logical thinking; test Vietnamese reading comprehension and writing ability.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School will enroll 7 6th grade classes with a total enrollment target of 245 students through a combination of application review and student capacity assessment.

The admission requirements are that students have completed primary school in Hoc Mon district or students have completed primary school elsewhere and are currently residing in Hoc Mon district and wish to study in grade 6 at Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School.

In addition, students must have a score of 9 or higher in the final exam of grade 5 for Vietnamese and Math in each subject.

According to the plan, from May 30 to 4 p.m. June 6, parents will access the Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School information portal at http://thcsnguyenankhuong.hcm.edu.vn to download the survey registration form.

From June 10 to 13, parents submit their application to the primary school they are attending. The application includes: application form; 2 3x4 photos; valid copy of grade 5 report card or certificate of final exam scores in math and Vietnamese for grade 5 (original); valid copy of English certificate (if any).

From June 17 to 21, parents will receive survey participation cards at Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School.

Based on the survey results, the admissions board of grade 6 at Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School will consider from high to low until the quota is met.

In case there are many students with the same score, the admissions board will consider in order of priority: students with English certificates from high to low level; Math and Vietnamese scores of 2 semesters of grade 5.
