Ba Hom Bridge in Binh Tan District and the Duong Quang Ham Street upgrade project in Go Vap District were opened to traffic on the occasion of Tet At Ty 2025, helping to clear the gateway and facilitate people's travel.
On January 27 (the 28th day of the Lunar New Year), Mr. Luong Minh Phuc - Director of the Traffic Construction Investment Management Board (Traffic Board) of Ho Chi Minh City said that the two projects have just been put into operation before the Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025, helping people travel conveniently.
Both projects are key projects to solve traffic congestion at the city's gateway area.
Ba Hom Bridge is located on Provincial Road 10, spanning Tham Luong - Ben Cat canal, newly built with a total investment of 374 billion VND, of which construction and installation costs are about 142 billion, the rest is for site clearance and other costs.
The project is about 425 m long including the bridge and approach road, of which the bridge surface is 24.5 m wide, with 4 lanes. In addition, the project also includes green trees, drainage, concrete embankment along Tham Luong canal...
In 2019, the project started but had to be suspended a year later due to land acquisition problems. By October 2023, Binh Tan District had resolved the difficulties so that the project could be restarted.
Mr. Luong Minh Phuc said that after more than a year of construction combined with relocation of technical infrastructure (electricity, water, telecommunications...), the entire project has been completed and put into operation.
The project will help reduce traffic pressure in this area, support local socio-economic development, and shorten travel time for people and businesses.
Duong Quang Ham Street (Go Vap District) is nearly 2.5km long, with the road surface expanded from 8m wide to 32m wide according to urban road standards. The project starts at the North-South railway (Luong Ngoc Quyen Street) and ends at Nguyen Van Luong Street.
In phase 1, the project opens the 520m long section from the beginning of the route (Luong Ngoc Quyen Street) to Nguyen Viet Xuan Primary School and the 295m long section from An Nhon Cultural House to the end of the route (Nguyen Van Luong Street) is a completely new route.
The 1,640m long middle section is under construction on the existing road so traffic is still organized.
"In this section, the Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Corporation has not completed the undergrounding and relocation of electric poles, so there are still rows of electric poles lying between the existing road and the expanded road. To ensure traffic safety, the Traffic Department has used corrugated iron to fence off the electric poles, painted them red and white, and installed flashing warning lights at night, and organized traffic according to the current situation," said a representative of the Traffic Department.
The Duong Quang Ham Road upgrade project has a total investment of over VND2,300 billion, divided into two independent components. Of which, the construction package is over VND380 billion and the site clearance package is over VND1,900 billion.
The project started in 2023 and is expected to be completed in 2025.
The completion and putting into use of Duong Quang Ham Street not only solves the traffic jam problem but also promotes the commercial and business activities of people and enterprises on both sides of the road.
