The old bridges above are all symbolic, closely associated with the history of urban development. However, their advanced age has caused many bridges to deteriorate, no longer ensuring traffic safety and possibly causing traffic jams.

Therefore, the city's transport sector has organized an inspection to evaluate the exploitation capacity, load-bearing capacity, etc. Up to now, 4 old iron bridges have been replaced, including Kinh Thanh Da bridge, Rach Chiec bridge, Long Kieng bridge, and Phu Long bridge.

The city is also building Rach Dia and Phuoc Long bridges and planning to build new Rach Cat, Rach Tom and Rach Doi bridges.

In addition, at level crossings, in recent years the city has also built 10 new steel overpasses, helping to relieve traffic congestion at Hang Xanh intersection, Thu Duc intersection, Hoang Van Thu - Cong Hoa intersection, Cong Hoa - Hoang Hoa Tham intersection, Pham Van Dong - Nguyen Thai Son intersection, Nguyen Kiem - Nguyen Oanh - Quang Trung roundabout, Cay Go roundabout, Ba Thang Hai - Nguyen Tri Phuong intersection; An Phu Dong temporary steel bridge (Go Vap district), Rach Gia bridge (district 12).

The City Department of Transport also added a steel overpass at the Bon Xa intersection and the Vo Thi Sau - Cach Mang Thang Tam - Ba Thang Hai roundabout.
