On the morning of April 18, the Departmentof Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City organized the Preschool Education Development Festival to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
The event is an opportunity to look back on the half-century development journey of Ho Chi Minh City's preschool education sector, with the participation of former leaders and experts in charge of preschool education through the ages.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Le Thuy My Chau, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, affirmed that preschool education in Ho Chi Minh City has gone through many memorable milestones, reflecting the continuous efforts of the entire sector.
Since 1975, preschool education has been built from small-scale childcare facilities, mainly serving the children of officials and employees in the context of many difficulties in the country. The 1980s witnessed the expansion of scale and the participation of the non-public sector. By the 1990s, the city focused on standardizing programs, training teachers and investing in facilities. From 2010 to present, the industry has achieved a breakthrough development with 3,252 modern facilities, programs integrating many advanced methods, focusing on comprehensive development of children.
"Today's achievements are the crystallization of the dedication of many generations of teachers, managers and the support of parents and society over the past 50 years," Ms. My Chau shared.

The Preschool Education Development Festival took place in an exciting atmosphere with many meaningful activities for children and teachers.

The festival includes more than 20 booths from districts, displaying images and documents recording the development of Ho Chi Minh City's preschool education sector over the past 50 years. From simple classrooms to national standard schools, each image marks the tireless footsteps of a generation of educators.

Early on, teachers and students of City Kindergarten prepared together for the most special performance of the Preschool Education Development Festival.

At exactly 8 o'clock, an impressive and emotional gymnastics performance by all the preschool children and teachers took place in the school yard.

The performance took place simultaneously at many locations across the city, as an affirmation of love for the homeland and national pride nurtured from the earliest years of life.

Although he could not fully understand the profound meaning of the two words "patriotism", in those clear eyes there was excitement and pride in the shirt he was wearing and the flag he was holding. Those were primitive but genuine emotions, the first seeds that nurtured love for the homeland and country in the hearts of children, a long journey that started from very small, very beautiful and very sacred things.

The entire schoolyard seemed to light up with the brilliant red and yellow stars, the colors of the national flag. This image not only moved viewers, but also reminded them of the responsibility of the education sector in nurturing future generations of citizens - healthy, confident and ready to contribute.

In particular, the Festival also had the participation and gun dance performance of the District 8 Education Sector Women's Self-Defense Company. Although it was recently established, the Company has made a strong impression through many outstanding achievements in training, participating in sports and competitions, and has been recognized and commended by local Party committees, authorities as well as the City Command.

Ms. Le Thi Mong Tuyen shared: "I am truly touched and proud to participate in this meaningful festival. We, the female self-defense forces, although we are teachers and staff in the education sector, are always ready to take on additional tasks of maintaining security and national defense in the locality. Today, standing in the middle of the schoolyard, in the green self-defense uniform, amidst the red flag with yellow star and the innocent laughter of the children, I feel more clearly than ever the sacred meaning of the work I am doing."

At the booth of Cu Chi district, Ms. Dang Thi Phuong Thao, an expert from the Department of Education and Training of Cu Chi district, could not hide her pride when introducing to everyone rustic dishes made from cassava, a famous specialty of the heroic steel land.
"Steamed cassava, spicy cassava cake, shredded cassava… are all dishes associated with the childhood memories of the people here. We hope to bring to the festival not only the taste of our homeland but also a part of the culture of Cu Chi, where the spirit of overcoming difficulties and patriotism is always preserved," said Ms. Thao.

The 50-year journey of Ho Chi Minh City preschool education is a beautiful story of perseverance, innovation and dedication to future generations. In the context of global integration, the city's preschool sector continues to set new development goals, aiming to build a modern, humane and comprehensive educational environment.
With the solid foundation that has been built, Ho Chi Minh City preschool education promises to continue to grow, worthy of being one of the leading units in the country in caring for and educating children from the first steps in their journey of learning and growing up.
