
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a plan to implement the Project to mobilize social resources in investing in healthcare development in Ho Chi Minh City in the period of 2025-2030, with a series of specific projects at public and private hospitals and medical training facilities. The goal is to enhance medical examination and treatment capacity, resolve overload, modernize equipment and form specialized medical centers.
According to the plan, Ho Chi Minh City will mobilize a total of VND23,655 billion in the form of public-private partnership (PPP) with 15 projects. Among them are many key projects such as the construction of a service examination and treatment area in area 2 of Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital (total investment of VND3,500 billion); construction of the Examination and Treatment Department for foreigners at Le Van Thinh Hospital with VND650 billion; establishment of a high-tech disease examination and screening center in Tan Kien medical cluster and Thu Duc city (VND1,500 billion each). The project with the highest total investment is Long Thoi High-Tech Medical Zone, Nha Be district (renamed Long Thoi Nha Be Institute Area) with VND10,000 billion.
With FDI resources, Ho Chi Minh City has a project to invest in building a Proton radiotherapy center located at the Oncology Hospital (1,500 billion VND).
With resources under the Ho Chi Minh City Loan Interest Support Policy and other loans, there are 29 projects with a total investment of nearly 4,500 billion VND. Of these, the project of 2 rehabilitation resorts for the elderly of Hong Duc General Hospital in District 12 and Go Vap District has the highest total investment of 1,000 billion VND.
With resources mobilized in the form of joint ventures, there are two projects to purchase equipment for Cu Chi District Hospital and a project to equip District 11 Medical Center, with a total investment of 30 billion VND for the two projects.
Private health resources are expected to have new health projects established in District 12, with a total investment of nearly 4,000 billion VND.
In addition to the professional responsibilities of the Department of Health, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Department of Finance and the ITPC Investment and Trade Promotion Center to call for and guide investors to participate in the health sector, which is being prioritized for development.
Ho Chi Minh City aims to:
- By 2030, a specialized medical and pharmaceutical industrial park will be established in Le Minh Xuan 2 industrial park, Binh Chanh district.
- In 2025, construction of a high-tech health examination and disease screening center is expected to begin at facility 1 of the Oncology Hospital.
- Establish a high-tech health examination and disease screening center at Tan Kien Medical Cluster and Thu Duc City Medical Cluster.
- Establish more general and specialized hospitals in Binh Chanh Medical Cluster, Thu Duc City Medical Cluster and other areas in accordance with approved planning.
- Invest in facilities, equipment and human resources for existing general and specialized hospitals.
- Building Ho Chi Minh City into a center for training high-quality medical human resources; adding training cooperation with the US, UK, Japan... at universities in the health sector.
