On the morning of April 24, the inauguration ceremony of Thu Duc Regional General Hospital took place in Ho Chi Minh City. This is one of the projects to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
The project to build a new Thu Duc Regional General Hospital has a scale of 1,000 high-quality beds, forming specialized departments with modern, synchronous medical equipment. This is a group A project, a level 1 project with a total investment of 1,915 billion VND, on a land use area of over 58,000m2.

The main building has 1 basement and 10 floors above ground, fully equipped with functional departments according to the standards of a grade 1 general hospital, providing a variety of specialized medical services.
Accompanying this is the complete investment in modern, advanced technical infrastructure items and landscape, spacious space to create a sense of safety, comfort, relaxation for patients, caregivers and medical staff to dedicate and serve.

According to the Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects of Civil and Industrial Works of Ho Chi Minh City (BDDCN), this is a project designed according to international standards, so the solutions for the overall layout, usage chain, space division, construction investment quality... are equivalent to a real international hospital, thoroughly solving the shortcomings and problems of traditional medical works that were built a long time ago and are often renovated.

The project was carried out in a difficult context due to the prolonged impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, changes in many conditions and legal factors.
However, with the determination to complete the project to contribute to the early development of Thu Duc City, the project was completed and put into use after more than 3 years from the start of construction.

Dr. Cao Tan Phuoc, Director of Thu Duc Regional General Hospital, said that every day the hospital has about 3,500 medical examinations and treatments, performing 35-55 surgeries. Of which, 50% of inpatients, outpatients and surgeries are people from neighboring provinces.
With the direction from the city's health sector leaders and the efforts of all medical staff, Thu Duc Regional General Hospital has become a grade 1 hospital, oriented to be a key emergency unit in the Northeast region of Ho Chi Minh City.

Accordingly, the hospital has made great efforts to develop the specialty of emergency trauma care, strengthen the basic specialties such as Emergency, Anesthesia and Resuscitation, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Diagnostic Imaging... and also develop advanced techniques in vascular intervention.
Two weeks ago, the leaders of the Department of Health held a meeting and signed a support agreement between 7 end-line hospitals and Thu Duc Regional General Hospital, to help the unit quickly develop specialized departments.

To fulfill the above expectations and tasks, Thu Duc Regional General Hospital has proposed specific solutions.
First, continue to develop specialized departments in the direction of expansion and promotion of emergency and trauma treatment. Second, try to grasp the support of upper-level hospitals.
Third, focus on developing internal resources, considering human resource training as the core. Currently, the unit has sent about 20 doctors to the Heart Institute to learn open heart surgery, 6 doctors to Binh Dan to learn about surgery, as well as sending many personnel to Children's Hospital 1, Gia Dinh, Cho Ray... to learn both expertise and internal management, equipment management...

"The building has a very large area, so the operating costs are certainly very high. Therefore, the hospital must find a way to develop legally and reasonably... Hopefully, with the support of the city's leaders and related parties, we will fulfill the expectations of the city and the people," said the leader of Thu Duc Regional General Hospital.

Ms. Van Thi Bach Tuyet, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, shared that after the Covid-19 pandemic, the health sector has overcome many difficulties and challenges and has reorganized the system of medical facilities and provided comprehensive health care and protection for the people.
The most concrete evidence is that in the past 3 years, major hospitals have completed construction and are operating at full capacity such as Oncology Hospital 2, Children's Hospital 1, Tan Kien Medical Cluster...
And today, Thu Duc Regional General Hospital has followed right after Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital, inaugurating on the occasion of the country's reunification anniversary, which has great significance.

Ms. Tuyet requested the hospital leaders to have a plan to effectively use the built facilities to better serve the people. At the same time, she requested the unit to focus on building a team of doctors and nurses to meet the tasks assigned by the health sector; continue to research and study to improve management and operation capacity in accordance with legal regulations.

"We request the Department of Health to continue supporting Thu Duc Regional General Hospital to ensure that in the shortest time this place becomes a complete Grade 1 general hospital and a specialized emergency center according to the industry's orientation.
"What should we do to reduce the load on the city center's final hospitals?", Ms. Tuyet suggested.

Associate Professor Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, said that in addition to the end-line hospitals that have signed support agreements, the Ho Chi Minh City 115 Emergency Center will also closely coordinate with Thu Duc Regional General Hospital.
The leaders of the Department of Health affirmed that they will continue to closely coordinate with the hospital and the project investor in bidding for procurement, so that this place will soon be fully equipped with modern medical equipment and supplies to serve patient care. Mr. Thuong hopes that the unit will be one of the key hospitals in the city's third specialized medical cluster.
