On the first day of the new year 2025, import and export activities through Mong Cai city were bustling, creating a new atmosphere of new victories, signaling a prosperous year.
On the first day of the new year (January 1, 2025), at Mong Cai International Border Gate, the Bac Luan I bridge area and the pontoon bridge opening at Km3+4 Hai Yen/Dong Hung border market pair (China) still operate normally. The customs clearance flow for people entering and exiting the Bac Luan II bridge area still operates normally. The customs clearance flow for import and export goods at the Bac Luan II bridge area implements the pre-appointment customs clearance regime. According to statistics from the Mong Cai International Border Gate Management Board, as of 10:00 a.m., there were 25 trucks carrying various imported goods with 137 tons passing through the temporary pontoon bridge opening at Km3+4 Hai Yen. There were 61 vehicles carrying 1,393 tons of export goods, including 880 tons of fruits; 470 tons of frozen seafood and 18 tons of fresh seafood. At Bac Luan II Border Gate, there are 40 vehicles carrying more than 240 tons of frozen goods for export under pre-arranged customs clearance.
In 2025, to promote import and export activities, Mong Cai City as well as functional sectors in the area will synchronously deploy solutions, including supporting and creating maximum convenience for businesses and developing trade at border gates. Mr. Nguyen Tien An, Deputy Head of Mong Cai International Border Gate Management Board, said: The Board proactively grasps the situation of border trade activities, promptly informs and supports businesses to remove difficulties in customs clearance of goods through border gates and openings in the area; at the same time, actively coordinates with border gate sectors or advises the City People's Committee to accompany and remove difficulties and obstacles for businesses in import-export and immigration activities. Maintain good foreign affairs, regularly hold talks and exchanges with the Department of Trade and Border Gate Management of Dongxing City (China) to promptly agree to remove difficulties and obstacles in import-export and immigration activities through the Mong Cai - Dongxing border gate pair (China). At the same time, coordinate with relevant agencies and units to advise the City People's Committee to speed up the progress, build and complete a number of key projects of important significance, contributing to promoting import and export activities such as installing a CCICGX commodity testing and quarantine lab, building an international agricultural, forestry and fishery commodity trading center, building an iron bridge across the border at the opening area of Km3+4 Hai Yen; Inter-sectoral Control Station project associated with the commercial service area at Bac Luan II Border Gate (Phase 2)...
At the same time, the city continues to propose competent authorities to speed up the progress of establishing and submitting for approval the project to build a mechanism and pilot policies to deploy the Mong Cai (Vietnam) - Dongxing (China) cross-border economic cooperation zone; proactively propose the province to soon develop and implement the Border Gate Economic Project associated with the construction of smart border gates to effectively exploit the advantages of border gates and openings, creating an open and transparent import-export environment; pay attention to attracting enterprises with large import-export needs (TKV Group, LG Group...) to rapidly increase the import-export volume through Mong Cai International Border Gate; create favorable conditions for the China Inspection and Quarantine Corporation (CCIC) to speed up the completion of the establishment of an inspection branch at the opening of Km3+4 Hai Yen; create conditions for the investor of Van Ninh General Port to soon complete the investment in phase 1 to connect the sea transport route from the Mekong Delta provinces and the South Central provinces to serve import-export goods; Regularly review to remove difficulties in legal procedures for border gate infrastructure projects under the PPP form...
In 2024, customs clearance of import and export goods through the city will be maintained stably and grow strongly, with the total weight of import and export goods in 2024 reaching over 2.2 million tons, an increase of 18.4% compared to 2023. Import and export turnover will reach 13.12 billion USD (export 6.9 billion USD, import 6.22 billion USD). Attracting 753 new enterprises, bringing the total number of enterprises carrying out customs clearance procedures for import and export goods to 1,338, an increase of 335 enterprises compared to 2023; State budget revenue will reach 2,019.33 billion VND, an increase of 50% compared to 2023, the highest ever.
