The four subjects that students are allowed to register for a pre-credit trial at Ho Chi Minh City National University are Linear Algebra, General Chemistry, Computer Architecture and Physics 1.
Information from the High School for the Gifted, Ho Chi Minh City National University said that the program to teach a number of university credits at the university level has been piloted since July 2024 and has had 600 students in all three grades 10, 11 and 12 registered.
The program is part of the MOOC (massive online course) project of Ho Chi Minh City National University.
The four courses that students are allowed to take for pre-credit are Linear Algebra, General Chemistry, Computer Architecture, and Physics 1.
The lectures are posted on the MOOC (massive online course) system of Ho Chi Minh City National University, students can join the course at any time; they also have some live sessions with the lecturers.
At the end of the semester, the school will organize a direct test. If the requirements are met, it is expected that the credits in the subjects that students have studied will be recognized when they are admitted to member schools of Ho Chi Minh City National University.
Previously, at the 2023 Annual Conference, the content of recognizing university credits in a number of subjects for high school students was mentioned by Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan, Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University.
Specifically, in 2024, Ho Chi Minh City National University will pilot a number of general subjects and credit recognition for talented high school students, using a combination of online and in-person methods. The university will develop specific standards and conditions to implement this model.
The program is expected to allow students to study some basic subjects on an online lecture platform. Students will then have to take an in-person exam to have their credits recognized when they are officially admitted to this university.
The program targets exceptionally talented students in all high schools, not limited to specialized or gifted schools.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan, Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University, the implementation of the program will open up opportunities for talented students to access higher education earlier.
More importantly, by studying some basic subjects in advance, students can orient their careers earlier. In fact, many major universities in the world have implemented this model, creating conditions for special talents to study university subjects early. Because if we continue to follow the linear model, we will not create a breakthrough./.
In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City National University will pilot a number of common subjects and credit recognition for talented high school students, using a combination of online and in-person methods.
