On the evening of April 19, the Organizing Committee of Ho Chi Minh City's major holidays held the opening ceremony of a series of cultural and sports activities with the theme "Colors of Uncle Ho's City" to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

The series of activities takes place from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on April 19, 26, 29 and 30 in front of the headquarters of the People's Council and People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyen Hue walking street, City Theater, and the Bach Dang Wharf park area (including the Saigon River section, from Ba Son Bridge to Nha Rong Wharf).

At the opening night, Ho Chi Minh City displayed 3D Mapping by creative groups from countries such as France, Belgium, Singapore with the theme "Journey of 50 years of heritage and future" on the surface of the City People's Committee building; displayed 3D Mapping by a Vietnamese creative group with the same theme.

On Nguyen Hue walking street, many performances of folk music, dance, traditional theater, sports performances, street entertainment... create jubilant and joyful artistic and entertainment feasts.

In the Banh Dang Park area and Saigon River (from Ba Son Bridge to Nha Rong Wharf), traditional music activities, contemporary art performances on floating stages, and water sports performances also contribute to expanding the festival space.

On the opening night, in the high space of the Saigon River area (in front of Nguyen Hue Street), Ho Chi Minh City performed 2,000 drones (unmanned aerial vehicles) flying high and forming a symbolic image representing the development process of the city, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. After the drone performance, at 9:30 p.m., Ho Chi Minh City also organized a fireworks display to end the festival night with a magnificent music background for 15 minutes.

After the opening night of April 19, the nights of April 26 and April 29 will also continue to feature exciting cultural, sports, and technology performances. On the night of April 30, with the theme “National Reunification Day”, the performances promise to be an explosive night with brass band performances, cavalry parades, community art, and especially a light formation performance using drone technology, expected to set a world record with 10,500 drones...
