Ho Chi Minh City: Remittances reached nearly 2.5 billion USD in the first quarter

Statistics from the State Bank of Region 2 show that the amount of remittances sent to Ho Chi Minh City in the first 3 months of 2025 reached 2.412 billion USD, an increase of 19.6% compared to the fourth quarter of 2024.

In the first 3 months of this year, the structure and proportion of remittances to the city changed significantly. Remittances from Asian countries and territories to the city still accounted for a high proportion (48.7%) and increased by 46.1% compared to the last 3 months of last year.

A representative of the State Bank of Region 2 said that the stable and developing monetary and foreign exchange policies, business environment and labor market in the first 3 months of 2025 have created favorable conditions for remittances to be sent home.

In addition, remittance companies and commercial banks have made improvements to enhance the quality of money transfer and payment services, which is also one of the factors attracting remittances.

Accordingly, remittance companies receiving and paying remittances still account for a high proportion with 1.757 billion USD, remittances transferred through commercial banking channels reached 655 million USD in the first 3 months of 2025.
