According to the report of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City sent to the People's Committee of the City on the organization of the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2023-2024 school year, from July 11 to 5:00 p.m. on July 26, 71,254/76,028 students admitted to public grade 10 submitted their admission applications to high schools, reaching a rate of 93.72%. Thus, there are still 4,774 students admitted to grade 10 but have not submitted their admission applications.
Schools with 100% student enrollment rate include Duong Van Duong High School, Tay Thanh High School, Nguyen Huu Cau High School, Nguyen Cong Tru High School, Can Thanh High School, Binh Khanh High School, Linh Trung High School, Thu Duc High School, Nguyen Chi Thanh High School, Tran Hung Dao High School, Nguyen Cong Tru High School, Thanh An Secondary - High School, Binh Khanh High School...
Two specialized schools, Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted and Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, have admission rates of 81.82% and 75.6%, respectively.
Public high schools that have not yet recruited enough students for grade 10 are mostly schools in suburban areas, such as: An Nhon Tay High School, Trung Lap (Cu Chi District); Vinh Loc B High School, Phong Phu, Binh Chanh Sports Gifted High School, Da Phuoc (Binh Chanh District); Nguyen Van Tang High School (Thu Duc City); Nguyen Van Linh High School (District 8)...
However, the leader of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said that the locality still maintains the spirit of not lowering the admission scores for grade 10.
Explaining this issue, according to the leader of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the sector had previously proactively increased the enrollment quota for the suburbs so that schools could reduce the standard scores and create conditions for students around the area to be admitted. Therefore, basically, schools still ensure the proposed enrollment plan.
On the other hand, in the 10th grade entrance exam, there are still students who live in the city center but register to apply to schools in the suburbs. Therefore, although their names are on the admission list, these students cannot enroll. Therefore, lowering the admission score cannot solve the problem of lack of students in schools in the suburbs, but will disrupt the enrollment of the entire city.
The application period for 10th grade admission for the 2023-2024 school year in Ho Chi Minh City will end at 5:00 p.m. today (August 1).
