According to Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh, Director of the Center for Testing and Training Quality Assessment of VNU-HCM, the first round of the 2025 National High School Graduation Exam had 128,338 candidates registered from 2,063 high schools in 63 provinces and cities nationwide (an increase of 34.3% compared to the number of candidates registered in the first round of 2024, which was 95,548 candidates); 126,297 candidates attended the exam (the rate of candidates attending/registering was 98.4%). The exam was considered a success, with the rate of candidates taking the exam at all exam locations being high (over 95%).

In the first round of the 2025 HCM National University Competency Assessment Exam, a total of 126,297 exams were graded, including 2 exams that violated the regulations (being suspended from the exam due to bringing a phone into the exam area) and 2 candidates who left the entire exam blank. Therefore, the statistical results of the first round of the 2025 exam will exclude the exam results of these 4 candidates.
The average score of the candidates was 618.4 points, the candidate with the highest score of the exam was 1,060 points and the candidate with the lowest score was 40 points. The distribution of the first round of the exam in 2025 is close to the normal distribution; the wide range of scores shows the high ability to classify candidates, which is convenient for the selection process. Compared to the first round of the exam in 2023 and the first round of the exam in 2024, the score distribution of the first round of the exam in 2025 is slightly left-skewed compared to 2024, showing that this year's exam results are slightly lower.
In addition, the width of the score distribution in 2025 is larger than in previous years (shown through the standard deviation), showing that this year's exam is better at classifying candidates, helping to clarify the difference in ability between groups of candidates.

The analysis results show that the difficulty level of the 2025 VNU-HCM's first round of competency assessment test is consistent with the difficulty level according to the test structure design. Most of the test questions have good and very good discrimination, which helps to classify candidates and test results appropriately for admission purposes.
The official results of the first round of the HCM National University's aptitude test are announced on the website https://thinangluc.vnuhcm.edu.vn/dgnl/.
From April 21, candidates can proactively access the exam website to download the electronic Certificate.
From 2025, VNU-HCM will not send score reports by post to candidates. Candidates will proactively access the VNU-HCM National High School Graduation Exam website to print score reports.
