On September 7, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee held the second press conference on the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum (HEF 2023) with the theme "Green Growth - Journey towards net zero emissions" from September 13-17.

HEF is an annual international event hosted by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee with the aim of receiving contributions from speakers and domestic and international experts on the socio-economic development fields of the City in general and the City's key projects, goals and programs in particular. Through frank and substantive exchanges, the City has a deep and comprehensive view of the current status and trends of green growth towards sustainable development in the world, especially lessons learned and feasible proposals that can be applied to the City's practice.
At the press conference, Mr. Vo Van Hoan, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, said: Green growth and green economy are inevitable trends of the global economy, so the City itself and the business community will have to change from awareness to action to integrate and adapt to that trend. Therefore, through HEF 2023, the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City will also convey a strong message on this issue. In addition, within the framework of HEF 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee will announce a list of 130 businesses that are forced to change to adapt and a number of other businesses that voluntarily register to change. On this occasion, Ho Chi Minh City also announced the award of the 'Green Business' to outstanding businesses.

According to the organizers, the opening session of the Forum on the morning of September 15 will have 6 main reports from delegates revolving around topics such as: Trends in green growth and circular economy development for megacities; Building an ecosystem of a circular economy model in the context of aiming for zero net emissions reduction; Policies in building green growth towards the goal of zero net emissions reduction and the mission of enterprises; Resources in developing a circular economy towards the goal of zero net emissions reduction and the mission of enterprises; International lessons and experiences in promoting green growth and circular economy; Current situation of Ho Chi Minh City and solutions in the process of applying the green growth model.
In the afternoon, there will be 3 discussion sessions with different topics such as Ecosystem of circular economic model, green growth - Domestic and international experiences towards the goal of reducing net zero emissions; Solutions to promote green growth of enterprises, applying circular economic model towards sustainable development for a megacity (like Ho Chi Minh City); Circular Economic Cooperation in Asia-Pacific region.
Within the framework of the Forum, there was also a program called “Bilateral economic cooperation between Vietnam and the Flanders Region - Kingdom of Belgium on building sustainable cities, adapting to climate conditions”; announcement of the cooperation program between Ho Chi Minh City and the World Economic Forum (WEF); a program for City leaders to meet with ministries, localities, international experts and a program called “Connecting CEO 100 Tea Connect” between City leaders and VIP guests and 100 CEOs from Vietnam and abroad; a Talkshow program with domestic and international experts and speakers; direct exchanges between international experts and students and businesses; a tour program for international guests...
The HEF 2023 event series also includes an exhibition of green growth products and services at Nguyen Hue walking street; a ceremony to award the title of "Green Enterprise" to City enterprises with projects, products, services or ideas that have been applying the green growth and sustainable development model.
